Oh my... I've heard about this show so many times. It's infamy is legendary. But I've never had a chance to see it before.

I might add that Life Day is celebrated in Starwars Galaxies, and there's a couple of quests involved in it

Itchy looks to have a bad case of mange.

My god this is awful! This thing's a classic for all the wrong reasons, though the Boba Fett cartoon actually is pretty damn cool.

Not so much because of copyright infringement, but more because George Lucas is embarrassed to be involved with its production.

Nacho: It's the Star Wars version of Christmas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_Day

I've downloaded the whole special through Bit Torrent before (hey, it was the only way I could see it) and yeah, it was so bad that it was borderline hilarious at times. There was a part in the special were Bea Arthur sung a musical number, it it was one of the most cringe worthy things ever.

As Mountain Man said, the only decent thing in it was the Boba cartoon that played about half way through the special.

I remember watching it when it first aired, was at my cousins house. We thought it was funny back then, but it was a chance to see our favorite movie characters again (remember, star wars was a single movie then, not a franchise). Have heard George Lucas say he wished it had never been made, and if he could, he would destroy every copy ever made (even the originals).

Wish it would come out on DVD, not just available as pirated copies

You must not like Kurt Cobain, then.

Lucas said that he wants every bootleg copy so he can smash 'em with a hammer.

And yeah, I've seen it too, but I think the only saving grace the Boba Fett cartoon has is that it's the first appearance of the character. The cartoon itself, apart from the animation which kinda reminds me of the Harry Canyon story from Heavy Metal, has a pretty dire plot.

I don't like that particular gentleman.. no. I am aware that he is dead also.
So maybe I should say I didn't like him. Although I think he was dead before I even knew who he was.

No, you don't. Trust me. I barely made it through the first ten-minute clip and couldn't bear the thought of watching the other 9. It's so shitty that it makes The Teletubbies look like high art. It's bad, bad, bad. Lucas has said that if he could, he would smash every copy of The Star Wars Holiday Special in existence. After what I saw, I'd gladly help him!

This is what happens when you don't maintain quality control on a franchise.

The Life Day concept is actually pretty cool, but the show was half-baked. If someone knew what they were doing, they could turn it into a pretty good special. Maybe they'll give it another look when the Starwars TV series comes around.

Ah, yes... this was celebrated on SWG a couple days ago.

Also, many people are complaining about the Life Day trees, saying that they remind them of Christmas Trees and it offends them.

Worse than both actually. Well... the plot on its own is alright. The problem is one: the Wookiee culture is underdeveloped and looks too much like it's trying to mimic a typical 1960's human American household. And then there's all this extra crap they try to put into it with guest stars and such, and it ends up looking like some kind of PBS telethon variety show.

Darth Vader: *addressing a mass of bounty hunters* Tetsuro is harboring the last remaining copy of the Star Wars X-mas special. Search the galaxy. Find him. Destroy him, and deliver the video to me.
