ROTT stuff
For those who don't know already, you can get a digitised frame of Scott Miller and belches of Joe Siegler (no offence or anything Joe) in ROTT registered. Just type:

ROTT DOPEFISH

Read the ROTT FAQ, all owners of a copy who haven't already!

Re: ROTT stuff
Alright, I read the DNF interview with Steve Hornback and in the forums here: http://www.3d-unlimited.com/forum/no...L/000003.shtml

The guy says ROTT uses the DOOM engine, but it doesn't. It used the Wolf3D engine, and it was reworked, it wasn't tossed. Anyone have an account at 3D Unlimited who will correct this clown?

Also, Joe, what did John Carmack steal?

I don't remember exactly. I remember that comment being made at the time, but it's been almost 6 years since Doom was released - the specifics are beyond me now.

Re: ROTT stuff
a.) ROTT used Ted5 (I think).
b.) ROTT also used a little bit from DOOM.
c.) http://www.classicgaming.com/rott/ has more info.

Re: ROTT stuff
TED is a level editor. Not a game engine. And yes, they might have bought some code from id Software's DOOM.

I'm just saying it's a possibility. Yell at the guy who thinks so, not me.

Re: ROTT stuff
I don't think they bought DOOM stuff from id... I think they did something with Tom Hall...

But if I'm mistaken you can go to www.classinggaming.com/rott

I'm just taking stuff I remember from there, so if I'm wrong, blame me.

Re: ROTT stuff
you're correct but not on the technical-engine stuff.
in the original DOOM design (nicknamed "the DOOM bible") that was written by Tom Hall for Id (he left shortly after), the game used to have 5 characters, and when Hall started working on ROTT he took that idea, and also some of the characters names, mainly, Lorelei Chen (Lorelei Ni), Thi Barrett, and Taradina(?) Cassatt.

for more on that http://5years.doomworld.com/doombible/

ROTT uses the floor texture coding from Doom, and it was given to them.
