Cool TV Show? (Might have been good in 1993)
I was thinking, why didn't Apogee make a TV show in the early 1990's? (around 1992-93)

I think it would have been a great idea. I mean, look at Saturday Supercade! (CBS, 1980's)

Possible Lineup:
  • Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure (Still looking for his parents)
  • Commander Keen (It was co-produced by Apogee, too!)
  • Duke Nukem (Clean, bloodless, children-friendly style, like the original DN or DN2)
  • Crystal Caves
  • Hocus Pocus

So tell me what you think!

...because they're a game developer, not an animation studio making cartoons for TV.

Oh, sorry, What I meant to say was: Why didn't they have the idea for a TV show, then give it to an animation company?

Never thought it was worth doing? Dunno - I don't think it's ever been anything that's been explored.

The closest something like that came to happening was in the mid 90's the guys who held the rights to Halloween Harry tried to get a TV series off the ground based on that character but it never got much beyond the idea phase, as far as I know.

LOL.

BTW, A buddy of mine on deviantart did a really good drawing of Cosmo and CK. Maybe he could have drawn the characters. (had he been the age he is today in 1993)

Hocus Pocus has potential. Make the story a bit darker and throw in some teenage angst. A show about teenage wizards is obvious now, but there was no Harry Potter at the time, so it would have been a harder sell to the network execs.

Did they ever get past the first 2 flash movies. The last time I was on that website they had just released part 2. I've since lost the link to that website.

I'm probably insane, but I seem to remember seeing Cosmo on TV
around that time. Of course, it was probably a smurf.

I would have loved to see a Monster Bash cartoon. Maybe it's still possible!
It'd be a nice way to ressurect the game, plus I trust Apogee wouldn't allow Nickeloadian to rape it.

(By the way, DN2 was not child-friendly. It cussed a few times at the end sequences, and there was lots of blood splattered all over E1L1.)

Oh yeah, I remember the cussing, but the blood is very vague to me. Maybe the original Duke Nukem would work?

....I'm joking Joe....

Anyways, I think the Halloween Harry Show had the script for the first episode done and concept art was also complete.

I think a Boppin' cartoon would've been grand.
Violence, video games and surrealism throughout; that would have made for some awesome Saturday mornings.

I'll take that as a compliment to how brilliant the idea is. It's also getting sig'd.

And I don't mean a literal "watch Yeet and Boik chucks blocks" translation; just following the plot of how they go about to various videogame worlds to rescue villains gives plenty of room for inspiration. I it.

A Commander Keen cartoon would be great, too, as long as Tom Hall wouldn't get too detached from it.

Edit:
I don't smoke, fyi.

Just to speculate...

What would have their voices sounded like in a cartoon like that back then?

(and yes, I'm back)

Thoughts:

Cosmo- Andrew Sebastion (Yoshi on SMW TV Show and Diddy Kong on Donkey Kong Country), although a bit more like a 6 or 7-year old, maybe 5.
Commander Keen- ???
Duke Nukem- Tom Cruise? Arnold Schwarzenegger?(obvious)
Mylo Steamwitz (Crystal Caves)- Robin Williams!!!!!!1111oneoneone
Hocus Pocus-???

I only remember "damn" and that was it in DN2. It was basically kid-friendly. And the blood... meh... it wasn't that big of a deal.
