This is the best level editor I've used. It's very easy to use too.

The only one I know is MapEdit. It's in the Wolfenstein 3-D Super Upgrades freeware release.

In the past (1998) I knew a guy who sold computers and he installed the shareware version of wolf3d on computers but the walls had the logo from his computer store on it. So he must have done that with a level editor ? I always wondered how he did that.

He probably used WolfEdit, which can edit the walls and sprites, but not the levels, of Wolf3D.

FloEdit and FloEdit 2 are the best Wolf3D editors IMO, they can edit the sounds graphics endart(Text) and do levels(very easy too)

http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=3142

Heres a link to it, not sure if it works.

I used to make mods for Wolf3d, i'll have to try and dig up a backup copy and upload it.

And yes, FloEdit/FloEdit2 are the absolute best.

Re: Chaos edit help!
Chaos edit is a level editor for Wolfenstein 3-D.

1)I go to load all
2)Add map
3)make a room, all the walls show up
4)open select objects
5)and nothing is shown

Well, it sounds like you're looking for general Wolf3D map-making tips, right?
Try here: http://diehardwolfers.areyep.com/bunker/mapedtips.htm

If you want help with ChaosEdit, you can contact the authors or if you need help with WDC, you can contact me (the author). We're both pretty active with our projects and we'll try to help you out.

Re: Wolfenstein 3D editing questions
Also, maps are saved to the files GAMEMAPS.ext and MAPHEAD.ext. Both are needed for your maps to work. MAPHEAD is the header info which is used to store the map positions in GAMEMAPS. Anyway, if you have more questions, just let me know.

I didn't figure out the email notification until just now, but it's working now.

There's a really good level design tips article that Brian "BJ" Rowan from www.wolf3dbunker.com wrote several years back. He pretty much let the website slip and now it no longer exists. It's such a good article IMHO, I asked Brian permission to post his article on my own website a couple of years ago. So here's a link to that.

Nah, they suck, at some things... like ruining VGAGRAPH files by trashing TILES8. Not only that, they aren't really friendly.

WDC is my favorite and it works great,

Assuming they work anymore. A few of my ZIP disks have since gone bad. I lost some valuable data too.

Indeed. Especially if they've been an "attic" - that's probably one of the worst places you could put digital media.

What about Blake Stone? We don't hold the rights to release the source code for it. You're coughing up the wrong tree. The decision on releasing of materials like that for all of our products doesn't always lie with us. It usually lies with the creator of the title.
