He was a good man. Nintendo is very smart to put their personnel in the public eye and build a relationship with the fans. Iwata-san did the Nintendo Directs as long as he could, only stepping aside shortly before E3. He was obviously suffering during that time, since his health issues first became public a couple of E3s ago. Besides his public persona, personal anecdotes that have emerged since yesterday paint a picture of a man who was in private what he portrayed himself to be in public. He will be missed.
