My portfolio - Darklight 2 Engine.
I've been experimenting ALOT with my engine for the past couple of years. Basically some of the highlighted features of my engine so far are, its a DirectX 10 engine based off of the Quake 3 Engine(I gutted the rendering code, and reprogrammed it running entirelly on DirectX 10).

Engine Features:
Clipmapping( higher texture sizes than 4096x4096 ), similar to MegaTexturing in Doom 3/Quake Wars.
Bloom/HDR
BumpMap and Offset mapping.
Soft shadows
Better collision mapping, so static objects no longer just have a "collision box", its now based on a collision model.

The first video is a logo I made, the buildings are rendered in my engine, and the text was added with After Effects.

The 2nd video uses the converted QuakeWars mega texture map with trees(I know its bad to grab assets from other games but I wanted to learn how QW did mega texturing, and that helped along with the NVIDIA Clipmapping tutorial). The movie I just edited together in after effects.

The 3rd video was actually made in Doom 3, I was testing out some things and put together a quick video of my tests.

and finally the 4th video was the engine I made when I was in high school...

The picture in the background was rendered with the OpenGL version of my engine, using the face of one of my friends I used from FaceGen.
Anywhere here it is(you need to stop the song that plays :|, the audio player is under the last video).

Right now im working on EDuke32's ROR code which ill add to my portfolio as well, but just wondering what you guys think.

I'd rather have the links to youtube here too

Impressive work Longer videos from in-engine, and focus clips to show the effects. So far those videos were so short that they were only a glimpse.

Interesting results, projects like this shows it basically took too long for id to make Doom 3's engine :-P. In what system does this run?

To be honest I wanted to use SM4, for clipmapping, which is one of the features I wanted in my engine .

You can do that with OpenGL.

So what? DirectX is an excellent, free to use, state of the art graphics library. God knows I prefer OpenGL myself, but what's wrong with other people using DirectX?

On topic: I'd also prefer to have direct youtube links in here. The myspace site layout grosses the hell out of me.

You forget that DirectX 10 runs on Vista only, while OpenGL runs on XP too :-P

I bet 99,9% of all board users here do have access to a windows pc to try and test this engine should it ever be released.

That's a good point I did not think of. I agreee with that. I've been working a little with DX9 lately on my XP machine which is why I didn't think of this restriction.

Honestly, I hope I didn't completely ruin this thread by joining into the discussion.

Re: My portfolio - Darklight 2 Engine.
I completed a strip club scene for a demo for my engine, and right now im working on a FEMALE stripper model(or if I get permission from the author im going to use the Duke Nukem HRP stripper model) :P, to go in my scene but I uploaded a new picture of my engine. This is rendered real time using DirectX 10.1.

Uploaded to my website
www.jminteractive.net

Direct link to the picture.

It seems pretty cool. Do you have a dedicated webpage describing the engine?
