Lol. I like Sci Fi like Heinlen and what not but doctor Who is another show I've never seen. Haven't seen all that much Sci Fi TV beyond Star Trek.

Shouldn't something called a Tardis slow you down. . .

Getting fed up with this. I'm stuck on a 64kb/s speed internet connection for the rest of the month. I happened to (half) accidentally leave my computer running with a TV-program stremaing in the background. Thus I used up all the included bandwith for this month on my mobile connection. After several calls to the customer service, I've realised that they actually don't offer any kind of possibility to buy more bandwidth for prepaid cards. I've been using a service for several years where I paid for a 2GB volume for a week, but that has now been blocked and can only be used if you have a special SIM-card for mobile Internet and not if you want to use it with your normal cell phone card.

Stupidity. It's like a milk man forcing you to buy the same milk in two different bottles with different prices depending on wether you want to use the milk in pancakes or in your coffee.

My only rescue is that I'm heading back to Germany in a few days where I have a flatrate for the cell phone.

Get a pre-paid sim card from another provider.

There was actually never that massive an influx of ex-3DR members on the Gearbox board and most of those who did make it over stopped posting soon after DNF was released.
It's sad that the community here has splintered and fizzled out so much, but it sort of fits the miserable fate of both 3D Realms and Duke Nukem Forever.

As for me, I just received Seasons 1 to 4 of Chuck on DVD as a belated birthday gift from my brother, which is nice.

Went to Gearbox, but stopped after awhile. Duke4 is a joke.
Now, I give help for wikis, forums and even deal with other people's shit. F*cking hate it though.

We have no idea what 3DR has planned for its future. Gearbox wants to do another Duke game, but we'll see.

When 3DR shut down, we were going, "Where do we go? Where do we go now?"
Now, its 15 years of 3DR gone forever. Not counting Apogee though.

I wonder if that place will open up ever again? That page has been there for ages. It's funny the curiosity it brings though... IIRC it was a place that General Messages was hosted on in mid-2006ish, but then it got closed down.

But yes, I am pretty sure nothing from those posts actually exists anymore.

I should just make a random login page on another domain but have nothing past it to see how much attention it brings. The analytics have the possibility of being hilarious.

Skyrim is pretty much the only game I've played recently, which looks like the 1993 drawing. Thing about Skyrim for me was, I finished it, then I was a loss at what to do next. Finished the main quest, got the best weapons and armor, made a bunch of money. I'd say I finished my character.

I don't know why they simplify games so much. Must have something to do with the instant gratification crowd. Those people don't have any time for anything anymore. I don't know if it's the short attention span or how they were raised. If I had kids, I would certainly tell them you've got all the time in the world, so it's up to you how you spend it. Being starved for time and only having 30 minutes to do something is an illusion created by the media.

Funny thing just today an old buddy contacted me about building Duke3D maps again like in the old days.

I suppose by publishers you mean EA? Not someone like Bioware, who is a developer. From what I know, EA doesn't actually have any say in what goes on with a game, they just publish it. If they did, I think a lot of these games wouldn't have such an epic story, etc. EA would basically strip it down and make it so they could sell 20 million copies so that everyone and their grandmother can play it.

I mean Activision, Ubisoft, EA, etc.

Deadlines exist if you work for these guys. It's why we wait forever for Valve games, they don't have to worry about these guys breathing down their necks.

Yeah... and Activision is the greatest company to work for out of the whole gaming industry.
EA sticks their nose in and tries to micromanage games to hell and back.

There's a reason a lot of developers don't like working with EA, and reasons people leave studios owned by EA.
It's also the reason the guys at Visceral Games have had "conflicts" with EA during development of games like Dante's Inferno and Dead Space 2. Because EA won't keep their "hands" out of shit.
