Duke Nukem drawings signed by the Nostalgia Critic
I thought some of you might be interested in this. I was surfing eBay this morning and came upon an auction for drawings from Duke Nukem that are signed by Doug Walker A.K.A. Nostalgia Critic. If your interested in snatching them here's the link:

Ya know, I love the Nostalgia Critic... but I would never bid on anything like this.

I did giggle when i saw that episode, but i'd say it's a bit far fetched to go buy signed original drawings of it, as if it was something major... Stuff like that should be left alone, and not be treated as valuable merchandise and such, imo

People would pay for a signed circle that was drawn by Arnold Schwarzenegger, and double the price if he drew it during the shooting of Terminator . . .

But it's amusing to look at the people who actually go that far

Wow. I can't believe someone actually paid $100 for that.

Everyone knows that Doug used those sketches for a video he did, right? He didn't just sketch them and sell them. Puts the value up a little bit, for those who are die hard fans of TGWTG. I'm a fan but I wouldn't buy something like this either, though.

I definitely know the video it originated in... But it doesn't make it all that celebrity-value-like to me, i know die hard fans will be just that, die hard fans, but you can't help but call a person like that crazy, for paying $100 for this sort of stuff... Being a "die hard fan" alone is hardly an excuse for calling it reasonable imo, it's more like an unhealthy (well, in an economical sense)obsession...

I like Doug's videos and stuff, so it's not like i'm against him or anything, i hope he continues making cool entertaining videos, and even might get somewhere big with it, but i think it's crazy to pay $100 for that sort of thing, as if it was some unique relic that'll be worth a fortune in the future - well it might, when Doug actually becomes something really big in the movie industry or whatever he could become... Then i could see people going back and be like "he made this before his career as what he is now, this is valuable" - that makes sense to me at least...

This situation is the equivalent to me, as a very talented person who makes good user-maps for some game, and then handing out a signed photograph he made, that he originally used for textures in a popular map of his, only to sell it off for $100...

I'm sure going on with this, but i just find it silly... Goddamn $100 for selling something you made as your hobby... I'd love easy money like that

Was it up for sale for $100 from the start? Or was it an eBay auction that big continually bid on until it got up to $100?

Also, his website is not his hobby. It's his job.

It was an auction. I believe it started at .99 cents.

Startbid was $ 30,- with 4 people bidding on it with zero or 1 feedback point which could be accounts merely created to crank up the price on items.

It's funny. I started this thread and I forgot the starting bid lol. Iggy, you make a good point though. They probaby did just do that so it wouldn't end at like 5 bucks lol. I posted this on here because I thought at least some people would be interested. I do agree that $100 is totally rediculous for those drawings. I never thought it would even get that high.

I didn't realize, that's cool to know, though...

Either way though, his popularity still hardly reaches that of a typical celebrity status imo... I mean it's a Doug-movie-featured piece of doodle, that was sold for $100, that's a bit far out...

I could keep going on like this though, i'm really doing nothing but stating my personal opinion about this, i just can't get it out of my head how a person could pay this much for it, they truly must have too much money to spend...

Well, to bring up my earlier point, if it was an auction that started as a much lower price, which seems to be the case, it's only the fault of the bidders to hike the price up that high. You can't blame Doug for that. And if people are willing to spend it than he really is at whatever status of celebrity people view him as...which is apparently pretty high.

Well i'm definitely not blaming him for anything, my rant here was all about the crazy fans of Doug, who treat this thing like something much bigger than it honestly is...

All ends good for Doug though, he gets a bit richer from some (almost unhealthy-) hardcore fans, so that's all cool...
