This video looks amazing. I'm totally on this torrent for a long time.

Generally speaking games that rely upon advances in graphical hardware to look great don't impress me at all, because I don't think that programming that stuff is really all that. However, it looks like you guys have an amazing art direction there, and this game looks potentially awesome. Will there be more at e3?

[edit]
Actually for that matter will it be shown at whatever is replacing the GDC this year?

You're right. Just about every game I'm planning on getting, combined will probably take up a good 10-12 GB.

Look at that lighting. It's better than (Doom3-LightingxHL2-Lighting)˛.

Take a look at that picture. And even better than that, that lighting is dynamic.
It certainly looks better than anything I've seen from UE3.
You'll specially like this coz it does seem to have that perfect balance of bloom-usage. Not more, not less ........ just perfect.

Its extremely creative.

BTW is it just me or Alan looks a bit *cough* finnish.
Maybe thats coz you people took finnish people as references. Oh well its a Remedy-published game alright.

I WILL BE VERY VERY XTREMELY DISAPPOINTED if there is no Max Payne 3 coming this Fall 2005.
I wish it is developed by Rockstar North (Grand Theft Auto games & Manhunt)

Licensing and royalties.
The thing is they have released alot of games since Duke3D. They have more precisely released 19 games since Duke3D, not so bad.

Yeah the location is kinda like SH2, but with a next gen polish. IMO (as I know RMD) the main difference between Wake and SH2 would be that there will be lots of action in this game (which obviously RMD master in).

There won't be bullet time.

'It'll be something new.'
I don't think it's like Remedy to give a new game exactly the same gameplay features. (MP2 was a followup to MP1, not a new game, and most of it was improved, and some new things got added)

Here's the quote from Scott Miller: -

Quote:
Food for thought: When you own an IP, the rules are quite different. Not only will we earn money from the sale of the game (likely, $15 to $20 million in profit, above the game's cost, in DNF's case), but we also want to build the IP's (or brand's) value. For example, with Max Payne, the game has made over $23 million in royalties. Last year, we (us and Remedy) sold the IP rights for $45 million. We spent $4 million making the game in four years of development. Gross revenues from the game were $65+ million. Suddently, that 4-year extended development doesn't look like such a bad deal.

We know if we make a great game with DNF, the same numbers come into play (should we decide to sell the IP, which we may or may not do, nothing is ever set in stone). But the key thing is that the investment in one game is much more than just the royalty value you hope to get from that one game, it's also an investment in the brand's overall value.
It's safe to say they're not short of cash.

Also, this quote is regarding the development of DNF

Quote:
We know this thing has taken a long time to make (and it will not be repeated in our next game, we've corrected the problems, such as moving into a much larger building late last year, allowing us to hire many more content developers), closing in on 100 man-years. But, the cost is still well under $5 million, and that will be recouped by us in the game's first week of sales. After that, pure profit, baby.

Where did you find those quotes ? I have been looking all over the internet for them.

Of course, if you read the the thread, George says that the figures are a bit off.

I'm guessing the tag lines from the trailer are um... "borrowed" from William Blakes Poem:

Auguries of Innocence

the lyrics are:

Some are born to sweet delight.
Some are born to endless night.

Interessting. I hope it'll have the same feel as the more surreal parts of max payne 1+2. Those were the best parts, even though there weren't any enemies.
