EA still has Louis Castle, co-founder of Westwood, as well as the two lead designers that were with the C&C team from the beginning (and all the way to Firestorm); Adam Isgreen and Mike Lightner. Also, the producer of Tiberian Sun and Firestorm is with EA, even though he isn't stationed at EALA. Sure, the original C&C creators (Brett Sperry and Joe Bostic) aren't working for EA, but there are still traces of Westwood inside EA. Those who still remain surely have a good idea of where the series was headed. Or so I hope.

Assuming PC Gamer isn't pulling (and breaking) our legs, this should either be about a new C&C game or a new Starcraft. If it's a C&C game, it should be "Tiberian Twilight", but another Red Alert doesn't seem unlikely. Hopefully, it's not another Generals, and hopefully they've not created a new C&C universe... again. Well, it could be interesting if they gave us a Fantasy C&C, but I'd prefer if they would stick with the Tiberian Saga and not dillute the franchise further. If it's Starcraft 2, then I guess I should play the original.

Only if I count the few times I participated in multiplayer battles. Starcraft is but one of the many apparent gems I have to get my hands on sooner or later.

Whereas some people are reducing a developing team to a few leading individuals.

What if the magic of Westwood relied on the chemistry of all the original developers working togheter?

I'm not at all impressed with they have produced so far, thus i have to assume whatever it was that made Westwood great it's now lost...

That is a wrong assumption. It might also have to do with decisions in the upper management of EA, rather the people "on the floor" in EALA.

Also, I think it wrong to reduce a development studio to a name and ALSO wrong to reduce it a few "core" people and ALSO wrong to the say that it depends on every last one of them.

Battlefield 1642 AD!? I'm sold!

Actually, I was just saying that that's pretty much the only interesting ground left to cover. They've already got C&C games in modern and futuristic eras.

I don't have time to elaborate as i'm at work at the moment, but to answer your first question, the C&C games i didn't like were Tiberian Sun, Red Alert 2 (yes, Red Alert 2) and Generals.

It's a matter of fact, the only two C&C games i really liked were the original and the first Red Alert.

After that the series just lost me...

I can see where you're coming from. I thought Tiberian Sun was decent, but it should've been more than that. I didn't like certain design decisions, such as having the story told from third-person (meaning that you, as commander, was actually physically present and active in the videos).

As for Red Alert 2, I can see it being disliked for its campy tone and the way it ignored the timeline. It basically created its own game universe, weakly linked to the first Red Alert (which was already linked to the first C&C). Personally, I thought the campy tone was entertaining, and I had a lot of fun playing (especially the multiplayer).

I've never really played Generals, but I disliked the idea of them adding yet another game universe. To me, this was just an attempt to milk the franchise (kind of too early to do that though, since there was more of the original saga to be told). Plus, there are no videos in-between missions! That should be a trademark of the C&C series. I'm sure the game is decent though.

The first C&C, the first Red Alert, and Red Alert 2 are my favorites. Story-wise, the Tiberian saga wins over the spin-off that is Red Alert 2, but I think I enjoyed the gameplay in Red Alert 2 the most.

I loved all the C&C games except for Red Alert 2. I just didn't get it.

First C&C is one of my all time fav's though, and my favorite of the RTS games. Generals was really fun, teh battles had alot of impact and multiplayer is still fun to this day (I still play it alot).

The exclusive they have is probably a follow up on the Medeval:Total War article. Either that or another Warcraft RTS.

First of all, I won't scan it for 2 reasons, 1. My computer is dead and it's a pain to get the scanner working on other computers for some reason, 2. I'm not going to scan a magazine. Would a cover suffice? I'll take a photo of it.

Well, they got screenies, think C&C Generals graphics souped up and layered with the Tiberium Universe. They got info, Kane is back, release 2007, Story is more connected to mission, FMVs not filmed yet (that's what they said and if they really are talking about FMVs, w00t FMVs!) and some info like that. I'll be posting the cover shortly once I get rid of my name and address.
