Suicide Bombers BETA
Im working on this SP-mod for Prey called Suicide Bombers, and I've just finished the crude script-version so I thought I put it up here to see what you guys think. Any comments would be helpful!

The game features are the following:
*ALL enemies (except the final boss) will try to get as near to you as possible, so they can blow themself to bits! The AI is unfortunately at the moment a bit stupid.
*Since the concept is making the wrench kind of obsolete I've added a paralysing shot on the Alt-fire. This ability is crucial to survive certain enemies. I've have not yet made a working projectile though.
*Corpses blow up after a certain amount of time
*Gibs for the win!

I'm planning to make some customized maps later on, but I'm more of a script-guy so if there anyone makes a funny map for this mod I would be extremly grateful.

To install, just dowload and extract the files from below into your folder where you installed Prey. Then when in the Prey main-menu choose mods -> Suicide Bombers.

Warning! The paralysing wrench and letting enemies blow up by themself has a tendency to ruin some map-script in the SP-game so make sure to save often.

Here a few issues you can that into consideration.

1.Hunters or enemies that shoot projectiles,
When they cant reach you or in a far distance.
Perhaps they should resort back to firing weapons after a certain amount of time.

2.Theres a gibb/explosion delay after killing a enemy.
Id personally like to see that instant upon death.

Also if you manage to find someone to map for you.
It would be cool to see some aliens charge you and hunters snipe from a distance.

This mod is GIBBTASTIC!

As for the suggestions the mod was at first thought to be a all wrench mod, and therefore I never considered giving the monster the ability to shoot and to instant gib-explode on death. But seeming as that no longer is the case, your suggestions are a natural extent to the current mod. But for the instant gibbing on death i'll add that if they were "meleed" to death you get a little head-start before they explode. All things fair

Currently I'm working to get certain critical issues fixed, which i found when running some test. I'll get back with an update of the mod soon.

And as you said it would be fun if someone would feel like doing a map for this mod. It don't have to be anything extravagant, just a simple shooting range with hunters charging would be fun!

Please don't force us to have instant gibbing in the next version. I find the delayed gibbing for all weapons much more entertaining to see, which is why I would prefer to have an option to keep it. I would appreciate it if two slightly different versions of the mod are provided in the archive--one with delayed gibbing and one with instant gibbing.

As for the gameplay with this mod, I like it a lot as it is. Nice work. I hope that a finished minimod version for use with the normal game will be offered in addition to the planned full-blown mod with custom levels. Personally, I like minimods much more than full-blown mods.

About the gibbing: After Llama Gibbz post i changed gibbing to instant gibbing because i figured that it would make the game more challenging since you would have to kill the monster at a more favorable distance than before so you wouldn't get hit by the explosion. And at first it felt like the right thing to do because it had the desired effect, but after a while i became a bit tired of the instant gibbing so I decided to switch it back as it was before. So you don't have to worry, there wont be any instant gibbing in the next version.

I'm glad you like the gameplay! I was a bit unsure at first if anyone would like this mod more than me and my whacky friend. Glad I was wrong.
As for the release of the next version, I've been busy with a bunch of work for a while now so I haven't been able to work that much on the mod lately. But since there is still a interest for the mod I will try to find the time, so I could actually finish one of my projects for once

BTW I'm still looking for a good mapper for the mod since I'm mostly in to scripting. It would be extremly fun to see any customized maps for the mod and I'm afraid that if would try to make such a map it would probably end in distaster.

so i installed the mod too, selected it from the mods in the menu. sekected new game and then normal (casino/normal/cherokee) it just starts the game from the beginning is this supposed to do this?

Yeah it's supposed to start up in the original game. The mod is at the moment just a modification of the monsters AI with the small adjustment to the wrench. If you play a bit longer into the game you'll notice what the mod is about.
Perhaps it will be more of an "standalone" mod in the sense you're thinking of someday, but not now.

BTW an updated version is on its way. Just hang in there!

Now the updated version 0.5 of Suicide Bombers is up! Try it out, and let me know what you think!

Gameplay updates from ver 0.1 to ver 0.5 are the following
*Animations and sound added to the paralysing wrench
*Chain-Lightning effect added to the paralysing wrench, giving it a 50% chance everytime it strikes to travel to nearest monster
*Enemies now run around like crazy when they can't reach you
*After 30 seconds of not being able to reach you the monsters will start to shoot

Download Suicide Bombers ver 0.5
