Yes, this is one of the surprises I had in my sig.
I have decided to begin the missing add-on HRP in the bunch, the:
Duke Caribbean: Life's a Beach HRP
Considered the best TC by many (I consider it a tie with NW. *shot*), it most certainly deserves its own HRP. Therefore, the VacaHRP (as I will abbreviate it) has been born.
I do know that there was a .zip floating around which had UnDEF code, a copies.def equivalent, some skyboxes, and one sand texture. The only information I could find about the creator of it was that his nickname was “noctrun”. I will consider that one v0.5.
The first true version of the VacaHRP will include all of the content of v0.5, a conversion of the deprecated code to the new code, plus one or two extra submissions if there are any.
Alright, team! Let's get to work on this one!
Post Script: I think this warrants a Duke4.net\Duke4Ever.net news story. It isn't my call, though.

Nice, looking forward to the pigcop
I tried once to make a high-res texture but it didn't work out too well, so I can't help you out with this one Good luck in any case.

Way to go Hendricks! I was wondering if my post about "life's a beach" would prompt a dev to:
A: Consider an HRP for DN3D:LAB, or...
B: Post already-thought-of plans to do an HRP for DN3D:LAB
now to get a copy

Life can only be understood in reverse. But must be lived forward.

btw the zip is still at here though you must follow the link on that page as you can't directly access it in the file at the subdir (files/vacation_hrp.zip), as lycos is a really crappy place to host your stuff

The announcement of this actually being in existence was one of the surprises. As for the status of the pack, I have a few tiles already, and the last added thing was the 3D Realms screen replacement. I could release v1.0 as it is now, but I wanted to accomplish a certain something at least partially (with the NWHRP too) before I do. I'm also working on other surprises.
The last work that I've done was playing through the pack again to see if there is anything that needs to be done. The first thing that comes to mind is that a few tiles have alternate palettes that either don't show up well or at all. For the best example of this, go to Mr. Splashy's, and compare the 8-Bit red font, the chairs, and some of the wall tiles that are everywhere. I suppose that the font could be fixed by importing the DukeDC green font as pals 6 and 8, but that should really be done in the normal HRP. The same thing should happen for the NW white font, but for pal 24. Examine the original 8-Bit red font tiles in Build/Mapster32 with those palettes mentioned above.
There are also a few things that really stood out to me that I really wouldn't be any good doing.

Here are the others for the various pallets. I've included a light blue. I thought that could be set for 'Standard' blue (this is the Caribbean!) and for pallet 16 you could use the standard tile. I sent Hendricks266 the regular blue without the name to his email earlier.
I would still love to see some with "Bob Marley" or even "Prince Buster" on them.
P.S. Thanks Hunter_rus!

Wow, Tea Monster! I can't thank you enough, as that really stood out at me as I played through the game.
There is one thing that I still need: a dark blue. The original skin is not dark enough to use as pal 16.
Also, I am not going to edit the 8-Bit art, but I am going to use the corresponding files for the palettes:
0 - 0680ltblue.png
10 - 0680dkred.png
11 - 0680green.png
12 - 0680gray.png
13 - 0680black.png
14 - 0680dkgreen.png
15 - 0680brown.png
16 - 0680navy.png
18 - 0680gray.png
21 - 0680red.png
22 - 0680green.png
23 - 0680yellow.png
30 - 0680midblue.png - The original color.
31 - 0680.png - This is the original color with “Eddy Wood” on it.
Palettes 30 and 31 are only for user-mappers if they want the original color, as there is no change if you apply them in 8-Bit.

I seem to be in a "can't stick with something" spiral and so have been hoping on and off gaming projects trying to find one I can stick to.
Basically everything I ever get interested in ends up uncompleted.
The latest thing I came from was Carmageddon II - I made a new car, got it to work, went to start my second one but lost all enthusiasmn for Carmageddon and moved onto something else for a while.
In short, I want to have a go at making something for Duke (again )
Is there a new Carib to do list anywhere or can I assume that the latest one uploaded is practicaly up to date?
Well anyway, I'm going to give Tile #3765 ago, the Flower Chain which appears nearly everywhere on the market.
