never change a running system ^^.

i usualy wait to update drivers until some new game is released or i get new hardware.
the card is quite dated by now, as is my OS, and as long as im neither have a brandnew card nor OS, usualy new drivers dont fix bugs that have been around that long ^^

(if something crashes 1st thing is driverupdate though, but until then ^^)
especialy with nvidiadrivers that are more of the "combopackets" just because its a new version doesnt mean it affects YOUR specific card in anyway. used to be that new drivers could actualy impact your cards performance negativly (eg back in the g3 times the tnt2 support was rather shacky and the best driver was a rather old version...)

I'd say the TF2 multicore patch is a significant enough update to fall into that category. That's doubly true now since the latest nvidia drivers have specific fixes for performance in Source.

the anecdotal evidence in the last 10 posts lets me suspect otherwise ^^ :P
id argue that i get a better performanceboost switching the OS for dx10.
my point is i had no gibcrash before that fix, no crashes at all.

im just of the opinion that a new version of the driverpack seldom caters to older cards and os, but NEW bugs get introduced anyways. additionaly my pc seems to be of the opinion that installing new drivers is an act of misstrust on my part and regulary throws a "this time of the month" fit if i try to force him.
(has disobeyd me 2/4 times now when updating the nvidiadrivers with hanging up during boot, and im just sick of going into safemode deleting stuff aso).

The newer drivers aren't really that good for the 8600. I've noticed significant improvements and more stability in TF2 and in Empire: Total War after going back to the 178s.

Haha, same thing happened while we were playing Dustbowl, yeasterday. One of our spies tricked a Medic to Über him and did the spycrab walk.

It's really annoying to Über a spy and lose your precious Übercharge. I remember doing something like that couple of days ago where one of the medics on our team invulned and I kritz'ed an enemy spy at the same time... Humiliating...

What an odd game of TF.

First round of Dustbowl we were dominating. Blue didn’t get out of the gate, we had four SG’s setup outside of their spawn, and 3 medics using the kritzkrieg. Every uber they tried resulted in the medic or heavy being blown across the map, but through pure luck, the heavy we blew up landed right on the cap, captured, then ran to the last cap and did the same.

Next round, and again we were totally blitzing blue. We had four SG’s firing into their spawn (even managed to get one into the foxhole) but while we were having fun, a scout crept through to make the first capture. Then (and god knows how) a heavy had managed to make it to the last cap. Our spy went to backstab him but instead of getting a kill it said:

Red Spy backstabbed Red Spy’ lol.

Last stage was pretty much a disaster. We lost the first cap instantly, but instead of capitulating , we ended up making one of the most epic defenses of all time. I finished off the round with 8 dominations, 250 kills 40 deaths. I don’t think anyone on our team even got killed - for 20 minutes lol.

I can't remember ever accumulating this many kills while being thrashed so thoroughly.

Most fun I’ve had with the game for ages.

Weirdest thing was the Spy self backstab: I’ve seen engineers killed by their own SG’s, medic’s die while ubercharged, but I’ve never seen someone kill themselves with their own weapon.

It got everyone laughing when it happened.

250 kills in a single match? Do people just have insta spawn on and keep running infront of SGs constantly or something?

i think the sniper unlockable could be that he would soil himself to make himself impervious to melee attacks for a period of time. He would smell so bad that no spy or similiar could come close enough to hurt him with a backstab or similiar.
