Max Payne and Fraps

I was trying to record some videos of Max Payne last couple days and whenever I use Fraps the recording process is always choppy right after I hit the record button. Returns to normal if I hit the stop hotkey. Tried it with FSX, but it didn't seem to cause me any issues. So I figure, maybe it's a Max Payne issue. Here are my settings:

FPS: 25
Full Size
Record Sound checked
Detect best sound input
Sound Device: Vista Direct Stream (I use Windows 7, but whatever)
Sound Input: Stereo

Can't be related to my system specs but I'll list those too:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550
4 GB DDR2 800 RAM
BFG GTX 280 OC
Windows 7 RC1 64-bit

Edit: After reading some stuff, I put the resolution down to 1280x768, half size, and the FPS I put to roughly the same amount that it would be if I were actually playing the game and it seemed to work flawlessly.

Re: Max Payne and Fraps

Put it back to your normal features, then run without recording and look at the framerate. Then set FRAPS to that framerate.

Re: Max Payne and Fraps

The problem is the anti-aliasing effect. Try to configure in your nVidia control panel the anti-aliasing for MaxPayne.exe to 8x and start the game, go to options and desactivate anti-aliasing in game. Because you choose an AA mode in nvidia control panel that game don't detect, the game won't make changes, AA still activate and capturing video with Fraps works smoothly.
