ROTT Roland Sound Canvas SC-55 Music Pack
Like the similar SC-55 Duke3D soundtrack I made, I decided to make an SC-55 soundtrack for ROTT as well. I know somebody else made a very good music pack already and I'm not degrading his work at all because it sounds like he did an excellent job. But this music pack represents how the soundtrack sounded back when it came out the way it was meant to be heard and composed for. Lee Jackson used a Sound Canvas to compose all the MIDIs for the games he worked on. So this pack is for the people who like the classic sound and want a recreation of the best of what people were playing with 15+ years ago. I'm sorry about using MegaUpload but I can't seem to upload files any bigger than 25 MB on my website as it just cancels itself all the time. Perhaps somebody can help me mirror it.
All tracks are encoded in OGG format in Quality 3.00 (112 kbps nominal bitrate): ROTT SC-55 Music Pack 56.54MB ZIP |

Thanks to Oasiz, the ROTT and Duke3D SC-55 packs are now available here to download: http://lerppu.net/sc55/

Re: ROTT Roland Sound Canvas SC-55 Music Pack
Top man! :) Don't suppose you have a lossless version of the soundtrack for general listening purposes by any chance?
|
Re: ROTT Roland Sound Canvas SC-55 Music Pack
'Fraid not.
|
Re: ROTT Roland Sound Canvas SC-55 Music Pack
Ack, shame. Hopefully the OGGs haven't lost too much data from the original WAVs (or whatever) anyhow...
|
Re: ROTT Roland Sound Canvas SC-55 Music Pack
I would be in favor of FLAC for general listening too.
What ROTT port can be these used with? |
Re: ROTT Roland Sound Canvas SC-55 Music Pack
winrottgl obviously
|
Re: ROTT Roland Sound Canvas SC-55 Music Pack
I encoded the OGGs at Quality 4.0 which is pretty high. Even Quality 2.0 is higher quality than an MP3 at 160Kbps. I wouldn't worry too much. OGG is much better at preserving audio clarity than MP3s EVER WILL be.

Re: ROTT Roland Sound Canvas SC-55 Music Pack
Thanks for taking the time to make these. Both this and the Duke3D recording are great!
Would have preferred a mp3 version for the ipod too, but I guess I can convert them. |
Re: ROTT Roland Sound Canvas SC-55 Music Pack
Thanks! I love ROTT's soundtrack.

Re: ROTT Roland Sound Canvas SC-55 Music Pack
I'm just listening through this music pack and I have to say that the quality is superb. I wish I could play this with the original ROTT (I have too many problems with WinROTT just now...). Great work and well done! :)

Re: ROTT Roland Sound Canvas SC-55 Music Pack
Just a quick question. Can I play these OGG files with WinROTT and, if so, how do I do that? Right, okay, you got me. It was two questions but at least they were quick! :P

Re: ROTT Roland Sound Canvas SC-55 Music Pack
First off, you'll have to convert the ogg files to mp3 format, then run
winrottgl, go to 'settings' then 'sound settings' then check the play mp3 box, set the path in the box where the mp3 files are... :) |
Re: ROTT Roland Sound Canvas SC-55 Music Pack
Thanks. I'll give it a try. :)

Re: ROTT Roland Sound Canvas SC-55 Music Pack
I will be making MP3 packs (and FLAC packs as well) for all the soundtracks I have on my website eventually. Right now there are MP3 packs for Descent I & II, Blood, and Shadow Warrior. I don't have the original WAVs for Duke3D or ROTT anymore so I'll have to rerecord those again.
