Earth No More
Last we heard of Earth No More was in 2012 when it appeared on the crowdfunding website Gambitious as a 3D Realms project coming soon to the site but nothing ever materialised. http://forums.duke4.net/topic/5565-3...earth-no-more/
What's happening with Earth No More? |
Re: Earth No More
I would love to see Earth No More happen, or, at the very least, see what 3DR and Recoil had in mind in a blog post or something.
|
Re: Earth No More
I honestly don't know if I want the game to happen or not.
Mostly because... we don't know a damn thing about it. How it would be, what it would be. It basically never went anywhere. |

Raphael Van Lierop (former 3DR creative director and Space Marine 40K head honcho) spent years on that project. They just couldn't find a publisher who didn't want to fund the game without buying the ip. Radar didn't want to give it up. It's true not much was known about it, but back then Scott had great instincts. I would love to know more. They spent millions on it. Quote:

Re: Earth No More
Well, they're using Bombshell, and thats an old 3D Realms idea that stretches all the way back to before Duke Nukem 3D came out! So age of project doesn't mean a whole lot.
But I lost track of ENM myself. |
Re: Earth No More
I'd also like to hear more about Earth No More.
The difference between Bombshell and Earth No More is that there are screenshots of work on ENM's development floating about, which means they must have done something with it at some point. Bombshell on the other hand is an entirely new game for which development started recently. It merely uses an old idea, as opposed to being built off older development. |

Samuli was the founder of Recoil Games who were developing Earth No More. Maybe something will happen with the game? |
Re: Earth No More
Interesting theory, but doesn't necessarily mean ENM. Could be something new, too. :)

New Earth No More :D

Earth No More is not currently in production :( |
Re: Earth No More
And that should be of a surprise to no one.
There is no valid reason, rumor, speculation... nothing to support or even point to Earth No More still being in development. Also, ENM does raise a point on something in which I'm interested in. Radar Group. Earth No More was handled by Radar ... with the recent acquisition of 3DR by SDN Invest, what does that do to Scott's "Radar Group"? If anything. |

Re: Earth No More
The work put into the production of the game and the development of the game itself when it ceased development it's not entirely outrageous to expect that they'd put it back into development eventually especially given some of the talented people that were behind it like Samuli Syvähuoko from Remedy.

Re: Earth No More
Genuine question, is there any proof that this game even stated development? iirc all we have on ENM is a quick few seconds of video from someone's portfolio.
You cannot take the planned gambitious campaign as proof either, how many kickstarters have started with a few concept art pics and a in-engine mockup trailer (sometimes not even that) I honestly cant say that i am saddened by all of this as it seems it never left the idea stage. |

I'm not saying it can't happen, but you shouldn't assume that every little bit of possible development news you find like that from a few years ago is still under active consideration. |

I hope Earth No More manages to see the light of day at some point. Maybe a post-mortem down the line? That would make for an interesting read. Chris Plante did a 5-part breakdown of Recoil Games (RIP) which was fantastic. Sadly, the story is no longer live though I have a backup somewhere. Their only released game was Rochard, a neat little platformer that had the bad luck of releasing right after the PSN breach in 2011. |
