Will there ever be another game after DNF?
 

What do you say guys, will Duke Nukem Forever be the final straw? Will 3d Realms and other developers tire of Duke's awesome 80's persona? Or will the release of DNF spark interest once more in the once popular action here who is now only remembered by but a few?

Yes. Bayformers did it for Transformers, and they had been out of the mainstream for quite awhile. They'd been around, but not exactly in the limelight. People used to just associate them with that '80s show. Now there has been a Animated show and they are planning on another.

Duke Nukem is still 'recent' enough that when it comes out, many people will still remember Duke. They won't need a 'refreshing' because many of them weren't very little when it came out, unlike Transformers, which had a new generation born years after it came out.

There will be many new games, but this one has to prove that Duke can stand the test of time, or it will not prove an incentive to create new ones.

To be overly optimistic but still somewhat realistic, this is probably the best case scenario:

After being completed by a third-party developer, DNF is released with moderate success and with few complaints, and is then followed by DN: Trilogy and Duke Begins.

The real best case scenario is:

DNF was released 11 years ago, followed by 3 more official Duke games, and another game currently in development.

It comes down to profit really. If DNF does get released and it sells well another game will be made... Will it be part of the main series? That is another question.

However, there new games will be made in the event that a profit is made.

Didn't Scott Miller say something about unannounced Duke games, wich will be released in the next years?

There were/are several Duke games to be released.

One was Duke Begins which was to be made by Gearbox but has since been put on hold or canceled.

The others are the Duke Nukem Trillogy for the PSP and DS which are to be released WID by Apogee.

Perhaps it'll be named something like Duke Nukem: Vendetta, you know, a name reflecting a number like 3D or Forever.

If DNF comes out I'm pretty sure George Broussard will find a way to make DN5 (Codename Vendetta :P) with some external dev team. It would probably takes a way shorter time span to make than that of DNF.

Well, ever since 1998 or so, it seemed like 3DR was putting faith into a lot of third-party developers to write a few of their franchised game titles, and I'm still wondering how much of a cut 3DR made on those. Would that be enough to support any more titles? One can only hope. Then again, id Software's been doing this a lot, too, so that may be a trend.

I hope so! Can't believe DNF would be so bad, that nobody wants to see a future title ever again.

Aside from Duke, the only absolutely cool figures out there are Postal Dude and the Care Bears :).

besides the probable duke begins, most likely no, not that DNF would be a bomber, it be the opposite. But given 3d realms/apogee i don;t think its wise to think there's hope for other titles. But if i can only get DNF and that's it, so be it, ill be happy to have at least that.

Well if DNF does gets released and its even a mini "hit" in sales, expect a few more DN games after that. But that if in the beggining is a big BIG "if".

- Duke Nukem Magical Pony Trip to Strawberry Land
- Duke Nukem Glittering Fashion Show in Pinky Mall

All expected sales of 20 millions copies.

I just a idea - they should invest their time for simple Duke Nukem games on iphone and ipad - not much work but lotsa cash!

Duke Nukem Balls of Steel - remake of Balls of Steel pinball with one table
Duke Nukem Always bet on Duke - strip roulette simulator
Duke Nukem Naked Chips - strip poker simluator
Duke Nukem Atomic Nut - arkanoid clone (breaking walls to self-destruct button with cycloid emperors eyeball)
Duke Nukem Thermal Reactor - bejeweled clone (combine radioactive isotopes for explosion and clear the screen)
Duke Nukem Hot Uranium Rod - tetris clone (joint uranium piles to critical mass and cause meltdowns)
Duke Nukem Ladykiller Casino - farmville clone (but with casino stripclub sim instead)
Duke Nukem Hydrogen Rain - peggle clone (shoot neutrons into uranium balls to cause deadly atomic blasts)

Exactly, they can't just let the DNF saga end, it would be bad enough for the game to be finally released, but they shouldn't let development stop for that reason!!!

Not by 3D Realms, no. Most likely more Duke games from other devs with 3D Realms overseeing.

IF Forever is going to sell REAL good, 3DRealms are again able to hire people, and duke will rise from its coffin.
