Random Duke Nukem Moment
 

Not too long ago I was out back in my garage cleaning it out - was a mess. So I'm hanging out there for awhile. The house behind me has some teenagers in it, and they're into Megadeth. Which is cool, as they tend to play stuff that I like because of that.

Anyways, the other day when I was out there, I hear the Duke Nukem theme coming from their garage, which I was like "Wait - WHAT?!?" - I walked over there, and said "Duke Nukem, eh?"

Turns out they didn't know the game, they only knew the riff because of the fact that Megadeth covered it. I had mentioned "I worked at the company that put that game out for over 16 years". Didn't mean anything to them. It was just a riff to them.

Really strange to hear that coming from a TRUE garage band. :)

Teenagers who are into Megadeth? That's pretty amazing in itself, most teenagers I know wouldn't even have heard of them.

I have a hard time imagining someone who has never heard of Megadeth or Duke Nukem.

I remember I was playing some MP matches of DN3D XBLA, and got into a match vesus just one guy. I don't lie to you people, when I say we fought for like 20 or 30 minutes. We hardly could kill each other. Level was Duke Burger. The damn bastard won :tinyted:

I actually got to play Joe when the shareware first came out. I happened to be grabbing some ammo in the strip club when he ran in and ran up to the central stripper and gave her a "shake it, baby." I blew them both up with an RPG before he even knew what was going on. Later, I blindly fired an RPG up into the projection booth in the theater and just happened to kill him. Outside of that, he pretty much owned the match. He was using mouse/keyboard and I was still on a gamepad in those days. The session ended when we managed to see a Sector Effector in the game. That was time for him to go back to work reporting the bug. :)

I heard of Duke Nukem on Captain Planet, but didn't know about the game char until 2002.
Hearing about Megadeth happened after I got into music more few years later.
