Duke Nukem HRP Polymer Problem

Hey everybody. Recently, i've been getting a problem with the polymer pack. It makes Eduke32 run slow but without it, the game runs flawless. Has anybody else reported this problem before and someone solved it because I haven't been on forums for ages. So yeah, does anybody know what the problem might be? If it's necessary to post my computer specs, please tell me. Thanks

Re: Duke Nukem HRP Polymer Problem

It does require a computer that can run games like GTA 4, Crysis on high etc

Having a video card with 1+ GB memory helps a lot.
There are certain console commands you can enter to turn settings down, like
"r_pr_shadowdetail #"
The default is 4 (which I think is some what to high) Try setting that to either 1 or 2.

"r_pr_maxlightpasses #"
Default is 5, You could try make this number lower as well, but then you will notice a lot less lights.

Further more, you will find all the discussion on Polymer and EDuke32 in this thread as it has moved from 3DR a long time ago to here now.

I'm a little confused. What do you mean console commandos?

Re: Duke Nukem HRP Polymer Problem

Console commands, just about every single PC game that comes out now has a console which can be accessed with the tilde key " ~ " beside the number 1.
All the half life and source games make extensive use of the console as an example.

You would then enter those commands as I listed above and change the values.

Re: Duke Nukem HRP Polymer Problem

substitute a lower value than default for "#" - # is not part of the commands

Re: Duke Nukem HRP Polymer Problem

Well I didn't use the # in the command, i just put what he said to put and where the "#" is at, i put a number.
I'm still not sure what I'm suppose to put in the console command .

Should be "r_pr_shadowdetail".
The commands work for me.

No idea why I put r twice, I must how typed r then pasted the command using CTRL+V.

But yes, use a number between 1 -5 not # and don't include the " " commas.

If you start typing any command and then press the TAB key it will list all commands for the letters you have typed so far.

Alright now it works. I see some what difference, it runs a little better, but still, somewhat choppy. Btw, I got a 2 GB RAM STICK. I'll keep on seeing what I can do. I'll let you guys knows. Thanks for the help people.
