What about a console release?

Any plans on bringing the Anthology as a digital download to ps4/xb1 with full controller support?
If Sega can keep re-releasing their greatest hits on collectors editions for any other new platform, it's certainly feasable. Also on consoles there's a market for old-skool gaming.
I know a lot of my friends would buy it instantly.
Think money can definitely be made from this.

some of those games wouldn't make it to consoles like Duke 1 and Duke 2 the sources codes are lost, however the others games might be able to if 3DRealms decides to do it which I hope they do

Re: What about a console release?

The current consoles should definitely be powerful enough to run those old titles emulated.

The consoles might be able to run the games emulated but then you run into some problems like:
-Keyboard input for save files etc.
-Has anyone actually ported DOSBox to PS4/XB1?

It's not like the 3D Realms Anthology is a huge effort on PC but I don't think '3D Realms' has enough programmers on their team for a console release.

I don't believe so, but DOSBox's code is highly portable. Heck, there are even very good Java and JavaScript ports of DOSBox.

DOSBox is licensed under the GPL, which makes releasing a product with it on consoles a legal impossibility due to closed-source SDKs. (Unless a license deal were struck with all copyright holders.)

Unlikely. It would require a renegotiation of all the game contracts for the different platform with the authors. Never say never, but I would be surprised if it happened.

Nevermind. I posted that and then asked. Should have asked first. When I queried about a console version, I was told

Console version is coming!
Given this is news to me, I don't have any more details at this time. :)

The question that comes to my mind will some of those games like SW and Duke Nukem 3D have online Support I'm guessing that it properly won't

Duke3D might be released individually.

I think it's too early to speculate on specific details like that. I didn't know before yesterday it was even happening (on consoles). :)
