I am pretty certain it will evolve dramatically in the next decade, but I am not sure 3D is going to be as big as most people think. I am ready for holographic display boxes however. Like in Star Wars! Hehehe.

I think the technology will go elsewhere... multi-layered LCD (or other tech) screens with inches of depth to create a more dramatic 3D effect is likely. (this technology does not exist at this time)
Laser in a gas field for hologram display does exist, but has many issues to be worked out before it goes main stream. Many years away.

I will be watching it happen for sure...
