The first 15 minutes or so of Evil Dead 2 are a quick/dirty remake of the first film.
It doesn't recon them.
In Ash's world, he lost his sister, girlfriend and best friend in that cabin.
It's great to get reactions of people who don't know what's going on. People like "Why is he going back to that cabin with a new girlfriend after what happened in the first film?"
