Six-String Samurai
Of all the Mad Max-Wizard of Oz-Sixth Sense-Highlander mashups out there, this one is definitely my favorite.
Featuring the maybe/maybe not wandering spirit of Buddy Holly as a desert phantom fighting an eternal struggle to preserve Rock and Roll against the onslaught of Pop, Hip Hop, Metal, and Communism, this low budget indie succeeds with Style and Concept, even when saddled with a heavy dose of "My Next Door Neighbor" acting performances.
The events of the story are open to interpretation, of course. This film sits firmly in the middle of the Surrealism genre. Other viewers take it more literally. But I prefer it the way I see it.
