I've been wanting this for quite awhile, and having had a good system for awhile now, I snagged this up for $10. I'm gonna see if I need any patches, but on the box it says 2004. I know there is a community release of updated graphics, but right now I'm not interested as I want to play it as it was meant...

I'm gonna try to keep what little life I do have though... http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

There is one problem, and I have read it is quite widespread, and that's the performance stuttering. I am encountering this as well when I really shouldn't be... Half-Life 2 demo, Far Cry, Unreal 2 etc all ran butter smooth... but Morrowind likes to jump around with the framerates. Most of the time it's a decent smooth, then it'll drop, and go back. It's annoying, and I've checked an optimization guide, I've turned off realtime shadows, pixel shading, I like to keep the viewable distance at at least 75/80%... I have the latest version too.

Anywho, I haven't gotten far yet, I helped this female elf get to some Holy land or whatever, and I ventured a bit further and was chased by these 2 medium-big creatures, I ran inside a farmer's cabin. Everytime I came out, I was killed by one of the creatures. I had to up my health, run like hell and then save once I got up to a higher point ^___^ I'm now in a different town and am looking to dress my character better... the thing I liked about Daggerfall was the clothing and such was just easier to choose and see, this time it's a bit worse. It's coming along slowly but so far so good.

What skills and stats do you plan to focus on? Any decisions yet?

Phait

I've always enjoyed being a sneaky, thief/assassin type character - able to elude my way out of conflict, but not incapable of defending myself.

Oh yeah, and dressed in blacks and reds. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Best thing to do in that case is to just bind a key like ctrl to sneak and then hold it down with a rock (or similar). Stay in a crowded room and then just increase the skill to something reasonable. Many skills, except those that are directly involved in combat are impossible to raise except if you do weird things like that, otherwise it is just far too difficult. The worst culprit is enchating, which only goes up if you use an enchanted item or are successful in making one. So you have to do silly things like making a 1/100 use healing ring or something, and just continually expire it and rest (recharging it) and so forth.

Other than that, the game is rather amusing and at least takes a long time to do things. Ultimately it just lacks depth aside from the scope of the world to explore. Hopefully they will improve that in the sequel.

I'm on my way to this fortress, I don't recall the name, but I've had to navigate some deadend mountainous terrain and having to battle several Cliff Racers - I hate these things so much, but my short blade skill has gone up. I was trying to find a way up the mountain to get into what must be the fort, it's metallic and like a sphere, and leaning. I came across a little creature to kill but apparently my blade broke or dropped, because I noticed I was now hitting with my fists!

Then the game crashed to desktop. That's happened a few times, but not often enough so that I can't get in a decent session.

Earlier, I went into a shrine and this female Orc wanted to kill me, I tried battling but my short blade was no match for her axe, or her armor. I ran forward and up and dropped through a hole on top of a statue in the shrine, where some green globish thing was cast at me, and there were some enemies down there. Oops! I left that shrine through a door...

I'm really anxious to get the Levitate ability, because there are some places I can't access that I wan't to. I miss climbing in Daggerfall :|

have thisw game, and played it for years. But, strangly, never beat thye main quest. I came CLOSE, but never beat it. Great game.

Anyway, I know my way around the island like the back of my hand. Have you got the 'Robe of st. Roris'? It's the single most useful item for new players.

It's a robe that'll keep regenerating your health and fatigue at 15% per second. And it's a consant effect, so all you have to do is wear it and BAM! you automatically start regenerating health.

It's an easy item to get at the beginning. You only need to be level 5 or so and have a levitating spell. I'll post a map of how to get it later.

Morrowind is a decent game. In the beginning it is truly strong. Eventually however, you will become bored of the lack of monster diversity and a few other things.

It's really a game built for exploration. I suggest you don't even worry about the main storyline.

No mods = teh loser.

On a side note, some of the graphical mods are phenomenal.

The texture/three foliage mod is incredible, as is the lighting mod.

It's good to try the game as it was originally intended (when a game has so many mods it's easy to be overwhelmend and then give up on the game), but those two are a must have...

Get it - it's golden. Never had the PC version but the xbox version is gold. Get the GOTY edition - you get more content with it.

ONLY downside is atrocious load times (3 minutes about, but that's only the initial load of your game).

I'm havin' fun. I joined the thieves guild, stole the diamond and have to return it soon. With an invincibility potion I was able to steal some object worth $4,000 but I got like $2100 for it... it was some stone bowl with a grinder I think, but I'm not sure. I would've got the other one next to it, but apparently it was too close to the guard and he'd always catch me on that one. There is also some nice stuff to steal for the guardtowers, I sold some weapons, but wasn't able to steal the armor in a cabinet yet.

I came back into that one shrine, just exploring, and coming across those imps that are immune to normal weapons, and have been getting use out of a shortbow.. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I am thinking of starting over as a wood or dark elf though, something more tuned to a thief/assassin.

There is some imp or something in one of the cities that has a large amount of gold, and you can sell crap at face value or more. Can't remember the name of the city. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif

Also, there are plenty of mods for the game that are fun, and won't ruin the experience.

Ok, I've started over as a dark elf, Assassin class. I killed off this bad elf group who was housing slaves in his cave near a silt strider, that was pretty cool, freed the slaves. Now I'm going to try to liberate the Den Plantation, and go back to that one area to join the Thieves guild. I came across this one guy who has a proposition then gives you an ultimatum of paying him or he'll kill you... I got my ass killed, so I reloaded, and then shot a couple enchanted poison arrows at him. I also got an enchanted fire sword from him, pretty cool.

Oh yeah, hunting mud crabs, rats and cliff racers with a bow is fun.

*UPDATE* I got some leather armor, still haven't gotten the complete look I want, but I'm near it http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you have the Tribunal expansion, i believe the armor you are probably after is worn by the the dark brotherhood guys who try to assassinate you when you sleep. When I get around to it I may post a screenshot.

BTW, the 5000 drake imp is the scamp found in Caldera in the Ghorak mansion, you can sell almost anything to him at cost exept for books and alchemy items.

On that same note, look for the talking mudcrab merchant on an island with a tomb east of Mzahnch(east of Vivec), he has 10,000 and buys almost anything too. be careful, it is very easy to accidentally kill it http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tinyted.gif

VERY easy to kill.... http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tinyted.gif I did it, it sucked.

Something you <font color="red"> NEED </font> to know about trading:

Some items sell for much more then any merchant (mudcrab included) can buy it for. Sell a lot of medium-priced items to these merchants then when you sell a large item you buy back all the medium-priced items to get the cost down to something that they can afford to sell you at. THEN you wait a day so the merchant has money again, sell off all the smaller items again for more money.

In the end it works out that you get 100% of all gold that is owed to you. It's a few more steps and hard to understand at first but well well worth it. If you don't understand PM me or ask again.

Even though I really liked Morrowind, I thought it was too rape-able. If you know what I mean.
They give you too much freedom. Like my last char at lvl 76 had every stat maxed except for luck, all major and minor skills 100%. All kinds of permanent effect items...more money than Bill gates (well not really). He was like a tiny god. If you get to a certain point the game becomes kind of shallow.
But yeah, I tend to try and exploit a game if I can.. Morrowind made it way too easy. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

^ I think RPGs would be more enjoyable if they got rid of the entire god damn leveling-up shit.

Whoever thought up of the idea that you can't kill a damn rat or snake in 1 hit needs to be shot. I don't expect to be able to kill dragons by myself, but fighting monsters through a progressive skill/stat system is a big part of RPGs. Take that out and what do you have? Hopefully a story, but there is not much else to do afterwards. Cliff racers become a nuisance as well as crabs, etc. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

You can focus more on picking locks, casting spells, and bashing in skulls of orcs, withough having to worry about if your skill will raise or if you don't have enough skill to do something.

Morrowind's problem, as well as a good number of games, is that your character can become too well-rounded or just a tank-mage. Ask me how many times I played a thief character as a guy that sneaks up on folks and knocks them out in any RPG? Only if it's the only option. Otherwise, I go toe-to-toe like a warrior, or if it's some powerful mage that has to be destroyed with magic, I just whip out ye olde spell booke and go to town with my magic arsenal. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/redface.gif

I know the game design would be a bitch by dropping skills/stats and I don't expect it to change. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/redface.gif

At any rate, there is a lot to do and it's definitely longer than your 10-20 hour FPS. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I always described Morrowind as a game where you have to play your own dungeon master. Yes, the game can be easy to exploit, and those who play simply to "beat" the game find it unsatisfying. However, those who actually roleplay and exercise discipline (for example, only doing things that it would make sense for your character to do) are treated to one fo the most immersive RPGs ever created.

Personally, I hope Oblivion doesn't introduce artificial constraints because Morrowind's freedom is what made it so compelling.

Well I got to some town by boat that is basically mushrooms and such, it's pretty cool. I got into a dungeon and killed a few monsters, one of them (or hell maybe all of them) was Daedra. I found out at a site that crossbows need BOLTS, so I got myself some, and a better longbow to replace the one I sold (thinking I could use arrows with a crossbow). I tried stealing a set of bolts and a longbow before paying for it, and I can usually do this first using the invincibility spell, then steal once, the go rest for 24 hrs and do it again... I tried and tried and kept getting caught, so I just ended up selling some armor I didn't need, worth a couple thou, and bought in. Cliff Racer hunting is still fun, I'm getting better at my shots (aim wise), but my skill hasn't gone up majorly yet. I did reach level 2 recently though.

But yeah, that's an excellent point.

I was thinking about: what if they put on a "constraint" that makes sense? Like, I believe ultima online has this system, certain skills will deteriorate when you neglect them or maybe some will go down if you up others.

Another idea would be that major and minor skills can be raised to 100% but the skills you didn't pick at the start of the game (misc skills?) can't be raised beyond a certain point. In morrowind you can raise every skill to 100%

I'm at level 3 now, Sneak is up to 40 but my Agility is also at 40 so I can't up it beyond 40, until I up my Agility. I didn't know that initially, else I'd of upped my Agil when I had the chance.

Quick things:

1. You will die by umbro untill you're like a level 25 or something. I forget to tell you the truth other then hes fast as hell and packs a bit of a punch for the low levels.

2. DO NOT USE A CAVE TO HIDE YOUR STUFF IN. Kill off some commoner in balmora or another city with a silt strider. TRUST ME. I have my current home as a small shack in palgiad or whatever it's called and it's a f**king annoying commute back and forth without a strider. I use mark/recall exclusively for my home because of this poor decision.

If you want a more elaborate home, join a major house or whatever and do every quest. They give you property at the end of each set of quests. It takes a while but they are nice homes.

This is what I thought would happen - kill Cass you ruin alot of quests. Hmm, a dilemma indeed! I may start a seperate game with a different type character. So far though I've made it past the Ghostfence and I'm actually in some Demer place. I kept coming across Ash Slaves and zombies on the way there, I just wanted to get to the center of that black mass, which apparently is the volcano. I'm near it. I also joined the Dunmer and have 7 places/shrines to visit, and already completed one around this Ghost area.

I just put a No-CD crack on Morrowind, and I notice everything loads much faster, cool! And I grabbed the Keening sword (I didn't get any pertaining quest for this yet) and died :P But I saw it's value, and I HAD to have it http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just jump on the big rock near him and shoot him with bolts/arrows. I've killed him at level 6 or 7, although I powergame to the extreme in Morrowind. I've beat the game before, and I don't know if I've ever made it past level 25. *shrugs*

I only sleep in the game when absolutely nessisary to level up with the maximum amount of points, or near max. Put all my main skills into misc so they don't add to my levelup count, max those out, and make sure I have one of each style of skill in my main and minors that I rarely use. It's weird how the game rewards you more if you put your most used skills into misc. Every level up with the exact max without any wasted skill points. Some times I wonder what a multiplayer option for a TES game would be like.

Every time I see a thread about morrowind here, it's usually people sharing their adventures and findings.

Wouldn't it be great to go adventuring with a buddy? Live in the same world, send each other mail or whatever some how. I dunno.
It would kind of be like an MMORPG but not. It would probably be hard to think up a system that allows multiplayer and not make it seem like an MMORPG, but I really feel the TES world has potential for something mulitplayer.

EDIT: yes if the "unhinge" spell has a little purple icon with a key in it then it'll unlock just about anything if it's power is 100 and your skill in casting that spell type is sufficient. There are also scrolls (you're probably talking about those?) that can do it.

The stuff is pretty worthless, but has a lot of "emotional value" for the "Caldera bitch". Her reward will be much higher than anything you could get for selling the jewelry.

That Khajiit isn't easy to find though.

EDIT: And the Boiled Netch Leather gauntlets from the armor pic don't exist in the game. Closest thing are normal "Netch Leather" gauntlets. But those are in the same same optical style as the (non-boiled) Netch Leather Cuirass.

I remember this one time i was exploring the moutains looking for this guy who was attacked just outside of Ald' ruhn.... i climbed up a rockface and fell over the other side straight into a sharp dicth in the middle of a three-pronged spikes of mountain. I would have been okay, but the bottom of the ditch was clipped so i couldn't climb out. I was sure i would have to restart the game and i didn't want to lose all i had done. Finally i searched my inventory and very luckily i had a staff of levitation that i picked up from somewhere and had randomly decided to keep it on me at all times. That was a life saver. Should really get back to that game. I ended up just wandering around stealing, exploring and doing minor quests in the game world. Having both bloodmoon and tribunal as well gave me even more areas to explore. Still haven't even started the main quests of either three. I've avoided getting lycanthropy so far as i learnt to craft items and made a nice little excellent quality shirt which healed me of illnesses and gave me back some health. It also never runs out. Brilliant.

Yeah, i can't remember where i got it from though. It was definately on the left side of the island beneath the imaginary horizontal line at ald'ruhn. I may have stolen it or found it in a random temple or something. I think the reason i kept it was because i couldn't sell it without losing loads of money i think it was around 20-30,000 as it wasn't just for levitation but also for temporary stat raising as well. I also never got myself a house, for some reason the thought never crossed my mind.

If you leave things lying around they don't just dissapear? Like in the original diablo? Cause i never knew that.

Also, something you should note. The add-on packs add things to the main island like quests and objects. It may be that this was one of those objects.

I Steal and sneak a LOT in this game and pretty kleptomanical which means LOTS of bounties from guards and such for catching me. I just tell em to f**k themselves and run to the nearest theives guild and pay half price for any crime and it's like a get out of jail free card http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Kill a guy in plain site? 500 bucks gets you off the hook with no confiscation of your stolen goods and no jailtime. it is, and i belive it is called the Wizard's Staff, which is required to become a Wizard in the mages guild. There are only five instances of that staff in Morrowind, It has a weight of 16 which is more than I care for. I happen to know that Edwinna Elbert in the Ald Ruhn mages guild has one. So there ya go.

I prefer the Steel Blade of heaven (30 sec levitation) which is a Level 6 item that is randomly carried by dagger wielding bandits and such

Are you a member of the fighters guild? did you do the Code Book quest?

If you answer yes to both questions then you will never be able to join the Thieves Guild because you already broke one of their rules by taking the code book from a thieves' guild member.

My advice is to join the thieves guild before joining the fighters guild and don't do the code book quest, you can still become the master without doing the rest of Fire-Eye's(sp?) quests

I use scrolls since they are fool proof but there is also a soul trap spell you can buy and use just like fireball and whathaveyou.

By the way, keep a lookout for ascended sleepers (giant slug looking things that fire magic at you) and golden saints (fighter looking creatures). Capture them into grand soul gems (don't bother with anything less) and you can use them to put constant-effects on your items through imbuing or whatever it's called.

That basically means instead of using an attribute on an item (like levetate from a staff as previously mentioned) it will be always on as long as you have that item equipped.

Can you remember who or where this person is? I have trouble remembering were all the contacts i made about a year ago in the game are..... It also turns out i haven't explored the world as much as i thought i had... although i have now got about five "innate" abilities thanks to doing some stuff for Almalexia.

I need to start getting my magicka up.

Also, does anyone know if heavy and medium armour's rating increases as your skill in it does? I'm currently 100 in light and am approx 56 in medium, but i wanted to know if the rating of the medium armour i get will be more when i level it up....

Logic Bomb

Odd thing in morrowind:

light armor is better then medium armor, heavy armor is only marginally better then light armor but weighs about 10 times as much.

Yes you're rating goes up as you put points in it. A 20 rated piece of armor in light will go up to like 120 after a good amount of points.

Personally i will only ever focus on light armor in that game.

Yeah, i've found that out as i've been going around. I accidentally attacked an ordinator when i was in vivec. I was stuck inbetween some shelves and accidentally stole something. He attacked me and i killed him in 3 hits ^_^. I've been wearing that armour for ages now, but i keep forgetting that "ordinator armour is a sacred thing that goes with the job" and so i get randomly attacked by some ordinators.

Actually, not much bothers me since i had my "Elemental Sword of Heavens" made. I can't remember what type of long sword it was, but i know that no other ones i've found have been able to hold as much enchantment.

In fact, that is my major problem. I keep getting golden saints and wanting to make cool items for me to wear, but they always are crappy for enchanting.... only exquisite items are good, and some of them don't seem up to the task (eg only having 40 slots or something).

So far though, i have made my Sword - which does fire, lightning and frost damage. (10-12 pts each/per hit iirc)
An Amulet of Night Flying - Constant effect, light radius of 10 with levitation.
Ring of Shadows - which is 60 seconds of invisibility.
Ring of Trapping - Soul trap ring
Ring of Everlasting Breath - Constant water breathing and restoration of stamina.
Extravagant Shirt - which heals 20-30 pts of damage
Pants of restoration - restores 20 pts of strength and endurance.

Since i'm a nord, i'm pretty much immune to ice attacks. However, i'd like to make some trousers of fire resistance and a shirt of health regeneration (a good amount of regeneration rather than 1-2 per second). I don't think it's going to happen though.

Thing is, you can just run around blind.... just have the map up on your HUD so you can see where you are going. It's best to run and walk normally in areas you've never been before.... but if you want to get somewhere quick or avoid cliff racers then get those boots on and navigate via the map.

Heh, she is quite the swindler, isn't she? you can acually talk her into attacking you once you get her to town. This is because she is wanted for selling worthless crap.

Ok, what you need is the Cuirass of Saviour's Hide (60% resist magika) which is found in in a 100 locked closet in the top level of Tel Fyr (SW of Sadrith Mora)

I'll leave the other 40% up to you, there are other items out there that can help, or you can just cast a 40% resist Magika spell, or make a few potions before you put the boots on.

you only need to to wear the armor long enough to get the boots on, then you can take it off and the blindness won't return until you take the boots of and put em' back on.

Here's a nice little trick for a mage with summon creature spells: Summon a high-level creature, cast soul trap on it, then kill it (it won't fight back). And there you go, an easy soul trap!

I always just made super-high powerful speed potions. Just make like 25 fortify intelligent potions, drink them all, make 25 more, drink them, make 25 more, drink them. Then make a bunch of fortify speed potions. They'll be very powerful and have some excellent duration on them.

Intelligence determines how powerful your potions will be so if you can crank this up to about 40k anything you make will be like an elixar of the gods. Don't make jumping or speed potions TOO powerful though because you'll fly through walls and mountains and stuff and get lost in a black abyss.

Another hint: A lot of merchants who sell alchemy stuff in higher amounts the more you sell to them. For example, ash yam is an ingrediant in fortify intellegence. buy the 10 or whatever on stock. Sell them back to him, get out and re-talk to him, buy the 20 he now has, get out and re-talk, sell the 20 you now have. Re-talk and sell the 20 and buy 40, etc etc... I keep most major ingredients around 100 on any given merchant for ease of use cause when i make potions i make them in droves.

Good place for both ingredients for fortify intelligence is the wolverine hall's imperial shrine.

I loved this game!

After picking my character I went into someone’s house and boxed them to death, looted all his stuff then I slept in his bed to regenerate my health HA!. I went back to the imperial guard who gave me one of my first missions and boxed him too. He was much stronger then I was so I would hit him once or twice then run away to the house I burglarized before and sleep to recuperate my heath then go back and do the same thing over and over again. I must have leveled up to 19 doing that.

Eventually I maxed out my empty hand combat skill (%100). So I had to go into the water and start boxing some big ass fish. After that I went into the forest and boxed some animals. I was beating the shit out of everything.

While I was walking around in some city I boxed the merchant and the guard after then paid my legal fees and looted the place because no one was there to stop me. I BOXED THEM ALLL TO DEATH!!!

I think I am going to buy the new one when it comes out so I can box some zombies to death...

It's a pretty massive game, isn't it? It boggles the mind to think that Oblivion's landmass is roughly twice that!

Not to argue, seeing as that would be the definition of kick ass. but, I heard it wasn't going to be as big as Vverdenfell. Like, maybe, half as big. Man, I hope I'm wrong.

Interesting experience, possible spoilers in text and images:

<table><tr><th><font size="-1">Spoiler below:</font></th></tr><tr><td class="spoiler">
So I haven't gotten very far in the game, just exploring most of the land, have like 30,000 gold. Mostly completeing side quests and Thieves Guild quests and haven't even begun the main storyline. But I'm up to like level 20. I decided to go to the black mass in the middle of the map, the Volcano where Dagoth Ur (evile god) resides.

http://img161.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dagoth13io.jpg

I go inside the Dwemer factory outing there and kill off some new monsters and eventually I meet Dagoth face to face! He does not attack, only if I attack first. But his voice, now WTF -- when he spoke, they used a normal but semi-enthusiastic human voice - nothing low pitch or EVIL! WHAT THE *****?

http://img161.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dagoth27lq.jpg

So I attacked him and killed him, and I go through a door to the inner core. There he is again but now he speaks and attacks me. I jump off the ledge onto a bridge below and find a heart connected to the giant statue, at the bottom. And I see Dagoth fell into the lava and *cannot get out*.

If you're a God, you don't get stuck in lava. WTF?

http://img161.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dagoth30lg.jpg
http://img161.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dagoth49if.jpg

Anyway, I'm definitely at Dagoth's place way too early to really be able to defeat him once and for all. And I cannot yet kill that heart connected to the statue either. But it was all a cool little adventure!

Oblivion's landmass will be bigger than Morrowind's. The game will be about 16 square miles (40 kmC2B2). Half of this will be forest areas.

The game will take place in Cyrodiil, the Imperial Province. There will be nine main cities in the game along with a lot of smaller settlements spread across the province. Also, there will be about 200 or more dungeons for the player to explore.

One major assumption everyone makes when we do a new Elder Scrolls game is that it will be small. Everyone thought this about Daggerfall and Morrowind as well when we talked about them "being more focused." No Elder Scrolls game will ever be small. Ever. We make 'em big folks. We super-size them. Why? This is a question everyone asks us, "Why make them so damn big? You could make it small and most people still wouldn't finish it."

My answer is this -- For the time you did play it, it wouldn't be as fun. The Elder Scrolls is about choice -- player choice to do what you want in any way you want. You need a certain amount of size and choices so that experience is actually meaningful.

Now, we do change scale in each game, because certain things you do cause the game to flow differently. Even though Morrowind is about 0.0001% the landmass of Daggerfall, the way you play it makes it feel even richer. Oblivion's landmass is larger than Morrowind's, but you can fast travel around much easier. It still has Morrowind's feel of open exploration, but Arena's feel of ease of travel and, well, it's more fun.

Jashin: “Bigger, longer, more content-saturated than Morrowind”… With such a beefy graphics engine, how would you make good on the promise of surpassing Morrowind?

kathode: Yes, Oblivion is bigger as far as land mass goes. On the art side, it is a challenge, as higher fidelity art does take longer to produce; we have developed several specialized tools to help us with these problems. For instance, we have tools that can procedurally generate landscape based on parameters we provide, which just beats the pants off of doing it all by hand like we did in Morrowind. Adding lots of really talented artists has helped a lot too http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The landmass in Morrowind was roughly 9 square miles while the landmass in Morrowind is roughly 16 square miles. That latter figure doesn't include the over 200 dungeons or the realm of Oblivion which is randomly generated every time you visit it.

Don't worry, Oblivion will be plenty big.

Edit: Eh, didn't see X-Vector's response.

I'm playing a different character (not starting over, just a new role) this time. Now a female, still generally a thief but more assassin oriented. Should be decked out all in black soon http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hmmm...started this myself quite recently. I installed a mod called A World of Faces before doing so, though, since the faces in Morrowind are absolutely hideous. Couldn't even consider playing with them.

I recommend that mod for anyone planning to play the game. Sooo much better. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Was wondering, are there cutscenes in Morrowind? I don't think so, but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything somehow. I know Daggerfall had some.

I can't remember any cutscenes during gameplay.

There are only two, and they both directly relate to the main quest

[edit]
Bloodmoon has a few, and I could have sworn Tribunal had a one or two

Someone mentioned boxing. Is hand to hand combat a viable means of attack in morrowind?

I always go long blade / marksman but if hand to hand works i might try that. How strong can you get it?

Not sure how effective hand-to-hand can get, but yes you can pummel your opponent :P I myself wonder if armor would affect your damage (wearing heavy gauntlets or gloves).

Check gamefaqs.com for Morrowind, theres tonsa stuff on it.
