I'm just curious if there's any PC good games (besides Sim City 4, which I already have) that don't include blowing someone's brains out? I've been thinking of getting such a game, because some days, I just get tired of putting a gun or some other weapon to some guys head and pulling the trigger.

Let's make a list shall we? Any games or genres that don't include killing are welcomed.

Any particular games in mind? There's a bunch of Star Wars ones on their site. I've never really gotten into Star Wars.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)
LOOM (1990)
The Secret of Monkey Island (1990)
Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge (1991)
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (1992)
Day of the Tentacle (1993)
Sam and Max Hit the Road (1993)
Full Throttle (1995)
The Dig (1995)
The Curse of Monkey Island (1997)
Grim Fandango (1998)

All these games garantee lots of humourous and witty fun. Except maybe The Dig which is a bit of a serious game but is still great and has it funny moments.

Day of the Tentacle is my favourite:

Hmmm, those look like cartoons. Is there any good "commander" type games, where you build stuff, get resources, and other things. I guess they call those strategy games. You're not necessarily blowing someone's head off, but you're building an empire or something like that. I remember as a kid I played this Civilization game which was quite fun. Never did make it into outer space, but it was fun.

"this Civilization game"?!!!
You better give Civilization the respect it deserves, mister! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tinyted.gif

As for the LucasArts Adventure games, it's your loss if you won't play them. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Ooops. Pardon my language.

My brother was saying that I could look into The Matrix Online (it does have some shooting in it, but that's not the whole point of the game), as well as World of Warcraft. I know you have to pay to play them, but it's only $20 per month. Like paying a phone bill. I just made a $280 paycheck for last week, so that's nothing. I don't spend my money irrationally. Well not all the time.

That's a few games, but I've played strategy games before, and I'm more of a guy who doesn't like to think hard or shoot guys. Not too good at that. Perhaps something like Matrix Online should do. It's one of those character building games. Could be something to look into.

Okay, maybe not Matrix Online. Something else.

All RTS or "commander" style games require killing... http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif So I think maybe your just looking for different genres to FPS gaming right?

Why not try these:

Roller Coaster Tycoon 3
Sims 2
Tony Hawk Underground 2
Need for Speed Underground

I remember playing Tetris back in the days of my old non-color Game Boy in the 1990s. That was fun.

What's Nethack?

Nethack is Rogue but with more "stuff."

Let me get this straight, you want "Non-killing games" but you're asking about a game that requires you to kill lots of shit?

It's one of the best games ever made. But you kill stuff.

Hmm, yeah I guess that would be a bad idea. Maybe a list of non-killing genres would help.

Sim City 4, which currently stand as my favorite game of all time. Now sure Maxis is part of EA now, but SC4 was mostly done before EA bought Maxis, so it was untarnished by EA's evil influence. Of course, SC4 on it's own is nothing that special, but when combined with the power of www.simtropolis.com (http://www.simtropolis.com) it is truely an awesome force of logic and beauty!

Even though Maxis is part of EA, I don't think I'll ever consider them to be under control like the other EA companies. I'm sure EA knows better than to mess with Will Wright since he can easily pack up and leave to make his own studio since he is one rich mofo. He has one of the best positions, artistic and creative freedom plus corporate funding. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You could try management and/or sports games, such as Theme Park, Theme Hospital, Fifa, etc.

What about The Sims?

I recommend the original over Sims 2 because there your sims won't age and you won't end up facing the unfortunate "My sim gets old and dies off before he gets to the top of his career"-problem.

I wish they would have made it possible to turn the aging off. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I really enjoyed Tropico and Rollercoaster Tycoon.

theRobot

How dare you say Roller Coaster Tycoon is not a killing game... the most fun I've ever had in a game is to make a the ramp coaster run too fast... and as they accelerate to their doom, they scream to enjoy the ride.. Just as the cars disconnect from the track those screams of joy turn in the screams of dispair! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
