Likes:

Physics: these are awesome, nothing like ripping a toilet from the wall a crushing someone.everything seems surreal, you can block doors with rebars..etc and basicly chuck anything in the map all over the place,my personal favorate is shooting the RPG's along the ground with a pistal when someones trying to get it! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Ragdoll effects: I haven't played many new DM games in the last 3 years or so but i dought theres one that looks as realistic as HL's...i love pinning a dude to the wall with the crossbow.

Netcode: What can i say,it works great for me with any ping even up to 200,those who complain about lag when [u]they do</u> have a good ping most likely have a crappy vid card...maybe i'm blessed but i have yet to see "lag" with a good ping.

Dislikes:

Firepower: Some weapons need work, the crossbow is too slow and loopy in zoom mode, the stunstick seems to kill you from 5 feet away and the machine gun acts more like a bee-bee gun.

Memory bug: Not everyone gets it but it's been around since the crowbar patch, i have had it a few times and it pisses me off something fierce..hope they fix it asap.

Player models: Valve made it very tough to make your own player models so they should release more themselfs.

Never seen that problem with the UT series and that has tons of player models so it's not an issue (never seen anything like that for HL either) Besides you need the model on your side to view it so if you don't have the model you'll see them as a default person.

I agree. The Source engine has phenomal netcode, some of the best I've ever seen. I once got stuck in a server where everybody had a ping of like 600, and I couldn't believe how playable the game was. Yes, there was considerable warping but not as much as you might expect, and it was entirely possible to consistently rack up deliberate kills.

Anything below 100 is smooth as silk for me.

but I mean, if you can create your own model, why don't you make yourself VERY thin so no one can hit you?

well, i think this doesent matter, your character may seen different but hitboxes would be same as they would be with default character, so this is not an option.

and what if I created a model that is VERY fat, that's difficult to aim then since you have to guess where the middle is

I got bored after a few hours. There's not enough blood and guts thats one dislike I have. The sound is annoying too, the half life guns sounded and felt more satisfying, and the screeching noise the combine models make when they die is tiresome.

Good:

-Fast paced, you revive within two seconds. Which is how I like it.
-Pretty much no lag.
-No team killing.
-Gravity Gun!

Bad:
-Not a lot of maps.
-I don't know how to start a proper server. :X

I like:

Manipulator. This is adds whole new dimension to FPS play. Now carrying a gun actually seems like a tradeoff.

There are so many situations where I've been cornered with low health and ammo, but somehow managed to survive by flinging a table at the enemy, after which I go on a killing spree with the weapon before someone finally finishes off my last 15 HP. Awesome.

The feel of the weapons. I thought id were meant to be the masters when it came to providing a satisfying and polished arsenal but Valve show them a thing or two. For once a hand canon actually feels like a hand cannon.

Ragdoll. I've seen enemies die, support themselves on some railings with their arms for a second and then finally collapse in a heap.

I don't like:

The Rocket Launcher. Too overpowered and easy to camp (in Overwatch at least).

The lack of mid range weapons. No Gauss http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

The lack of maps.

The presence of about 20 small but annoying bugs that it doesn't seem Valve will ever fix.

I like the rocket launcher, it gives you a goal

Are you insane? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif how many do you need? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

There are probably over 1000 DM maps by now,I personally have 677 http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dopefish.gif

Go here (http://www.snarkpit.net/maps.php) and get a bunch or just download them from servers.

And go here (http://www.phenylshouse.com/tutorial-2-page-1.html) to learn how to start a dedicated DM server.
