CANCELLED - YAY!

Our voices were heard!

---------------

quote

"This decision was not an easy one.

We did not want to disappoint the loyal Ghost Recon fans, but we did not want to risk releasing a final product that did not meet their high expectations. With the launch of Ghost Recon 3 planned for Winter 2005, significant human resources were needed to ensure the quality of the future instalment of the series, thus potentially jeopardizing the quality of either Ghost Recon 2 PC or Ghost Recon 3. Taking into account their close release dates, and the fact that we felt the third opus would be a much more satisfying and evolved gaming experience, we were forced to conclude that it was in the interest of gamers for us to cancel the PC version of Ghost Recon 2. But Ghost Recon 3 on PC will hit shelves the fourth quarter of 2005, so the wait won’t be long, and will definitely be worth it."

The first one was too bamboolicious for me anyway. The players walk too slow. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I think it's funny when a company admits their game sucks. But I hope Ghost Recon 3 is good.

What was wrong with GR 2? Haven't payed attention to it.

I liked GR 1 for the gameplay, ended up selling it though. Primarily because of the lack of weapon-in-hand views. Was fun for what it was though.

Thank God.

The whole "Socom" ripoff thing they were trying to pull sucked in the first place, i'm glad they finally took their heads out of their asses and realized that PC Gamers aren't as simple as most console gamers. I really don't mean to offend here and i'm not talking about anyone in particular but you almost have to agree.. especially considering almost every game ported to a console is dumbed down.

Personally, I like complicated in-depth games. That's one of the main reasons I enjoy System Shock 2 and Deus Ex so much. I just hope that for GR3 they'll go back to their roots.

It was made for the console, first.

EDIT:

I see Hudson made an excellent post above, so I shan't go into the gritty details, as he has already done.

I personally liked games like Ghost Recon 1 and Swat 4.

A lot of my pals don't care for the slow movement and lack of jumping, though. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/redface.gif

Umm... consol gamers aren't slow or need things dumbed down, that's such a false blanket statement.

I used to be 100% PC but when the wallet couldn't support it, the PC had to go. I play all sorts of games and i hate hearing people say that consols are inferior to pc's. Different for sure but they both have merits. Not our faults if the dev's dumb it down for children.

Anyway, back on topic: Ghost Recon 1 was an amazing game, so was the expansion pack. It was a very good tacticle game with a good pace (if you found it slow go play halo or some other mindless shoot em up).

Ghost Recon 2 was, from what i've seen and heard (and to a limited degree played in all fairness) is a crappy game that they sped up and dumbed down so people could just run around shooting instead of crawling, thinking, sniping and taking their time.

I hope GR3 is more like 1 than 2. Is 3 suppost to be for PC or xbox?

Could not have said it any better. Thank you for posting exactly what I would have said, had I had the brains to.

I really enjoyed playing the first GR.

let's hope they can manage to make a good sequal to it in GR3!

The first GR was pure gold. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/love.gif

The second one was so bastardised, the consoles can have it for all I care.

I get the newsletter....

The planned expansion for the award winning PC CDROM title, X²: THE THREAT known as X²: THE RETURN has been cancelled. Quarter three 2005 will herald the launch of the ‘next generation’ of X game, in the form of X³: REUNION, the first multi format product, set in the X universe.

It uses a new engine, market system and dynamic AI/life system.

i like the first one, but for some odd reason some of the urban levels run like crap on my pc.

the second one looked like a horrible game that is nothing like the first, all runing and gunning and no realism.
didnt actually play it though. i hope the 3rd one is good
