Watching that stadium death match got me real excited.

did he really say that Stadium is a custom creation? He must not have ever made it that far in the game.

I never really got into the Dukematching scene but it seems that steroids would really be an advantage in Stadium. . . man, I want to load up Duke3D right now.

Yeah, I was confused about that statement.

Turn night vision on and they wont have much of an advantage at all :)

Steroids can be used defensively. If you are shrunk by someone with the shrinker, you can use steroids, and get out of it.

Make you big in some things, shrinks you in others. ;)

I knew the bit about the shrinker. Just, watching that video there were people zooming by on steroids and in a large open area like the Stadium, you can literally run circles around someone with the pistol or something. I imagine that would be effective.
What do the night vision goggles do though?

You can do that elsewhere. It's possible to do that in the street in Hollywood Holocaust as well.

In Dukematch, a Holoduke will not show up as an inverted color, where real players will.

The pistol is deadly on the Stadium level :o

I'm stoked. Just thought I'd let you know.

I haven't played multiplayer since Duke 64. Before that it was using MSN Gaming Zone for Duke on the PC. But this is going to be something special. :D

The pistol is deadly because of the damn auto aim. :D

and its consistant 100% hits. It will never miss if you are shooting someone with it. most of my kills in stadium came from pistol.

I sat there and watched all 10 IGN videos and I must say they looked great! Looked like great fun was had by all and the vids were very crisp and clear. 12 years ago, did ya ever think Duke would come so far and get so advanced? How does it feel George?

800 points is perfect.

Can anyone confirm the 800 points price?? or is that just conjecture on IGN's part??

OXM also said in their review that the game was 800 MS points.

Microsoft still hasn't announced it, though. Those guys are the official announcement.

I see the Ripper is the Ripper in this version and not the Chaingun Canon. :o

Huh? "This version"? This is effectively the same as the PC version we've been selling for years. Ripper and Chaingun cannon are the same thing.

I know that Joe. I know they are the same thing. I'm just saying that on the PC the default user.con refers to it as Chaingun Cannon but in this port it's the Ripper. I was wondering why the decision to use that name this time? :p

Joe Siegler

It's always been both is my point (as I can recall). There was no change like you are suggesting.

ZuljinRaynor

I know but I mean on the display text. In that video when it was picked up it said Ripper. When I pick it up in my copy on the PC it says Chaingun Cannon.

This is the only change I'm suggesting. The pick up and pick up ammo text.

yeah, i am also in favor of changing that. should be either way for both ammo and weapon. i would also prefer chain gun..

I personally don't care about the name. :o

I think we discovered the PC version text was inconsistent when we were going through and converting it.

I just looked, in the "How to Play" area of the 360 help section; we call it a Ripper there, too.

ZuljinRaynor
09-21-2008, 04:59 PM
It's Ripper in the Kill-A-Ton Duke3D manual too. :p Always found it funny that it had two names.

pjohnsonjr
09-21-2008, 05:04 PM
It's called The Ripper in my Duke Nukem 3D User Guide that came with my DN3D box years ago.

George Broussard
09-21-2008, 05:42 PM
I think it was called the Ripper in the original manual, and printed materials. the guns were "named" close to the end, when the printed materials were being done and I guess the in game name "chaingun cannon" just wasn't updated at that time.

ZuljinRaynor
09-21-2008, 06:02 PM
I'll update my user.con then. :p

Back to the steroids thoughts, I remember playing Stadium and more than a few times accidentally catching my own RPG rockets while 'roid raging' and thought it was great!

That scared the shit out of me when I first did that years back.
