So did merked by a noob boost his kills or what? Because he got to 10,000 WAY before anyone else.

I'm #1 in single player btw :) Hondragrid and I keep taking it back from each other but I'm on top at the moment.

that is true.... derek, being that hight on the kill count list does not mean much. just means you have too much time on your hands.. it is not a mark of skill - it really is not anything to be that proud of.

that trueskill thing supposed to be an accurate measure of skill - that number next to your name ? that would be a more impressive number. killcount certainly is not.

after you get the 500 kills to get the mp achivements, it is kind of pointless in this game anyway.

Even the Trueskill score is flakey if you ask me..

I'm the only one (not to brag) that has ever gotten a score of 33 (that i've seen anyway). Yet a couple laggy games later where no one got any kills and the game just dropped everyone out, my score dropped 2 points...wtf? This certainly is not refecting any skill or lack thereof on my part...

Most of my games end with me winning 25-0 or 25-1, including games with folks in the top 10, and those having Trueskills of 32, yet half the time i'm sitting at 31.

Can someone help me out here? What, exactly, calculates Trueskill?

Well I'm pretty sure Trueskill is based solely on win/loss. Getting disconnected counts as a loss, which is why your rank will go down. That's incredibly stupid though if you ask me. Disconnects shouldn't even be considered in calculating trueskill. Although I suppose then people would abuse it by disconnecting when they're about to lose. I guess there is no perfect solution.

But anyway, why concern yourself over trueskill? I think your k/d ratio speaks for itself.

Because if someone just sits around about 18 hours a day and has a killcount of like 10,000 vs someone who plays well, and can't play but more than an hour or two a week, it seems unfair that the former gets ranked way higher.

At least to me.

joe someone needs to fix the the darn game

alot of people are getting crap on because

duke buger

the little piece of door that where the rocket lanucher is pushing people in the walls and they have kill themselfs for them to get out and they also lose a point

people lag out and the games ends
or the first person that has the sever quits and the games ends

person that in front of me shoots a rockets but kills me but not him this is in duke match

i beat him once in 7 player match in rumble but he beat me more then that before of that stupid shotgun

he doesn't like the football field so you should have the upper hand if you get the map

Leadership should be kills divided by deaths, so the top players in the leaderboard should be the ones that kills the most and get killed the least.

The only problem would be that a player with 0 deaths, dividing by zero error, but it can be tricked in the database to add +0.000001 to avoid divizion by zero error.

Other way would be matches winned / matches lost.

Other way would be like soccer leagues, who ends up first, sums up 3 points, second place 2 points, 3rd place 1 point, the one that shows up last, discount -1 ...

just some ideas.

The problem with a K/D ratio based leaderboard is that you can have people boost one game and get 25 kills, 0 deaths, and then be #1 in the world. I liked your soccer league idea though.

I just had the idea of having your score be calculated by doing kills - deaths. This would sort of combine the current system with K/D ratio. You would still need to play a lot and have a lot of kills to be at the top, but you also need to have a good K/D ratio. If two people are close in kills, the one with fewer kills would be ranked higher. Just a thought....

Gotta love the tripmines.

What's happening, as I said, is that you're glitching into the other side of the mirror located in the bathroom. When the game lags and you're moving fast, you can pass through solid walls occassionally. This puts you into the mirror sector, or 'mirror land'. Sometime you can get out, most time you have to die.

i was playing duke nukem 3d today and the map that i played was freeway

i was placing tripmines on some of the walls and when i turn around they where not there

but when i walk to the places that i put them in i die there are 4 places that will make the trip mines gone but still there like it was a glitch or something

Derenuken, allow me to speak for Joe Siegler here.

Yes, tripmines do sometimes take a half second or so to appear. And Duke Nukem isn't perfect. There are plenty of things to complain about (lag, glitches). But there are also plenty of things to enjoy.

Duke Nukem offers some pretty sophisticated multiplayer gameplay with interesting weapon choices and nice map variety. It has undeniable charm.

BUT - if there really are pervasive quality issues with DN3DXBLA, I think the community would have spoken up in a big way by now.

If you find yourself occassionally frustrated by your online experience, take a break and come back to it later. There are other games, and other ways to spend your time.

In other words, don't sweat the small stuff.

That being said, where in particular did your trip mines disappear? I'd like to see this for myself.
