Check this out, its a cyberpunk action RPG based in a bladerunner setting powered by the most powerful isometric engine ever made. I'll be keeping a very close eye on this one http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

EDIT: I hope the game isn't all in german though http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

EDIT 2: Ok found out that they'll release the german version on September 17th 2004 and the English version will be released awhile after that.

I really can't understand why so many companies are not implementing co-op. Online gaming is huge. A lot of people are tired of deathmatch type gaming. What am I missing?

I hope it has turn-based action. At least a possibility to use it. Because I frixing hate real-time fighting in RPG's.

But yeah, looks awesome. Althought the engine looks a bit too Doom3ish. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Reminds me of a cross between Shadowrun and Project: Overkill.

Looks neat! Full coop sounds cool too. Kinda like Diablo 2 but with shooting mutants. Models look ugly right now but gameplay looks like fun. Love the website's SFX.

Just got this game, and I can say it was well worth waiting for.. I'm hooked!

It's like Diablo II and Fallout got together and had a kid. You get implants on your body (cybernetic legs and arms too) and can modify your weapons, if you use certain weapons/implants/body parts from specific companies all at the same time you get a bonus for each item (like the set items in Diablo II). There are tons of sci-fi homages as well (like the plasma guns that look like Pulse Rifles http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/love.gif http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif )

I know it would be quick for someone to write this off as a "Diablo with mutants and guns" game however it's extremely entertaining and anyone who likes action RPGs should check this out (theres a demo).

How good is this game? I'm downloading the demo now to see what its like but it says its only one area http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif This game seems to get bad reviews, but are they just talking out of their asses (like usual?)

I'm loving it personally. It's like my little geek dream come true: An isometric action RPG (in the vein of Diablo) that takes place in a post-apocalyptic-like future (in the vein of Fallout) with just an essence of corperate conspiracy (in the vein of Deus Ex).

My guess is that most people are knocking it because like I said earlier it's easy to write this game off as "Diablo with mutants and guns". However playing the game itself clearly shows that while it was an obvious influence, they used that influence to take it a step further and create an entire new world of characters and events. However if you don't like the Diablo games, you're most likely going to not like Restricted Area.. then again to each his own.

Theres things about Diablo 2 I like and things I don't. Does this game have a story? Is there more to do than go from point A to point B killing monster C? In other words any interactivity or interesting quests?

I'm almost convinced but hopefully the demo will make me want it.

I just tried the demo. A little too close to Diablo. Something tells me this game gets repetitive awfully fast http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif I'll have to pass.

I've played the demo too.

I must say, I was never really a fan of the genre, but I quite like this one. Think of it as an RPG for a Blade Runner-esque environment. A dark, gritty dystopia with plenty of action and character involvement and multiple paths.

There is another game for Blade Runner types it's called Deus EX http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Besides character developement I fail to see the RPG elements. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif I'm more into role-playing games that allow me to exlore and interact with the environment not just attack attack attack level up. Its not a bad game if you are into that sort of "Action" genre but I would rather play a more RPG based game than a diablo one.
