This was a fun qualifying session and it was thrilling to the very end.

Sebastian Vettel didn't take part in the session due to his car being too heavily damaged and requiring a rebuild which just takes too much time for it to be done in time. He starts from the pit lane tomorrow.

Jenson Button had a gearbox problem and he will start at the very end of the grid.

Mark Webber had a spin where he touched the wall, which was very sad for him because he was safely in Q3 with 5th fastest time.

In the end, Hamilton got pole, but Robert Kubica almost stole it from him, though Hamilton improved a lot in his final run. Kimi Räikkönen is in third and Fernando Alonso is on the row alongside the Finn in front of Rosberg, another good performer and Massa. Kovy and Heidfeld make up the next row and Barrichello manages to wrestle the underperforming Honda into the top 10.

The real story, however, belongs to the track. It is deteriorating and the track officials had to initiate a resurfacing of the hairpin, which can't be cheap.

Anyway, I am really happy for Alonso and Renault, but Piquet needs to perform tomorrow.

If it rains tomorrow, you can just throw the form book out of the window and roll the dice. I can't wait. :)
