2008 F1 Turkish GP Race: Massa wins again, lots of overtaking

Posted 05-11-2008 at 12:42 PM by Bludd (Bløgg)

This was a fun race with a lot of good racing and overtaking. Kovy had a puncture in the first turn as he got a bad start from second on the grid and Kimi Räikkönen and he touched in the first corner.

Massa won, but it was not an easy race for the Brazilian with Hamilton pushing him and overtaking him on the 24th lap. Hamilton's race was kind of compromised with a three-stop strategy apparently "imposed" by Bridgestone due to fears of failure of the Bridgestone Potenzas...

2008 F1 Turkish GP Quali: Massa obliterates everyone

Massa is the King of this circuit. He has had 3 pole positions in a row which is a 75% success rate.

Räikkönen didn't do as well as Massa, but Kimi may have more fuel. Heikki Kovalainen qualified second and this shows he did not suffer from the crash he had in Spain. Hamilton got third and he was on the primes, which should be about 0.3s slower than the options, but he was only 0.115s slower. He did however admit during the post-quali press conference that he shouldn't have...

2008 F1 Spanish GP Race: Heikki apparently OK

Heikki Kovalainen had a heavy crash which lodged his car under the tyre barrier. It kinda looked like Michael Schumacher's crash at Silverstone in 1999 when he broke his leg, but Heikki seems to have escaped without serious injury; a slight concussion and a sore elbow looks to be the only things that ail him. The safety measures in F1 are apparently working.

Sad to see Renault's hopes go up in flames, with Alonso's engine saying "so long" and Piquet crashing with Bourdais....

2008 F1 Spanish GP Quali: Renault back on form?

Posted 04-26-2008 at 06:26 PM by Bludd (Bløgg)

What a cracker this qualifying was.

There were so many cars driving flat out to the very end of each session and for a couple of seconds, Fernando Alonso was on pole for his home race! Kimi Räikkönen was the only one left behind Alonso on a hot lap and there was no time left on the clock.

You could hear the Spanish spectators cheering for their hero. It doesn't really put a dent in the celebrations that Kimi managed to go 0.0091 seconds quicker because this result for...

2008 F1 Bahrain GP Race: Massa unbeatable

Posted 04-06-2008 at 07:22 AM by Bludd (Bløgg)

Massa finally scored some points this season. He didn't spin out as I predicted.

Anyway, Kimi got second with Kubica third and Heidfeld fourth. This result for BMW brings them to the top of the constructor's championship.

Massa totally smoked Kubica in the start, while Hamilton spun so much he dropped to tenth.

BMW looks to have become the equal of McLaren, and maybe even surpassing them.

My driver, Alonso, didn't finish in the points which...
