Online today is the final release version of vBulletin's Blogging system, "vbBlog". This is v2.0 of the software, and while it's been here for awhile, it's not been used a whole lot. I'm hoping some of the new features here will make more people want to jump in and use it. Here's a list of what's new over the old version:
  • Blog Customization - users may customize their blogs in the same manner that they can customize their user profiles.
  • Group Blogs - users may allow other users to post to their blog.
  • Sidebar Blocks - users may create custom blocks to display in their sidebar. These blocks can be rearranged by drag and drop.
  • Custom Pages - users may create custom pages to be displayed in their blog.
  • Tags - tag support has been included.
  • Featured Entry Manager - multiple entries can be featured on the blog home page now.
  • Private Entries - users may set specific entries to be private while leaving their blog open.
  • Admin Categories - admins may define categories now.
There's some cool stuff in there, and the author of the blog software has some visual examples of what you can do with this new version over on his blog at vbulletin.com.

Blogs here are free, and available to any registered user in good standing here (in other words, if you're banned, you lose your blog). I hope the new features will get more people involved in them!

If you have any questions, let me know here. I've also created a few admin categories as part of the new featureset. They are:

3D Realms
Games
Personal
TV & Movies
Music
Rants
Misc

If you can think of any others that should be global admin categories, let me know.

Sports should be a global category, I think.

Anyway, I think it sounds cool. I'll be blogging when the F1 teams launch their cars in 2009 and of course the season opener and then throughout the season.

I might start blogging here and get an actual readership that's worth having!
