Just because McCain raised 84 million doesn't mean the limit is 84 million. I was suspicious when you gave me that figure a few days ago because I couldn't find any laws about it on Google, but now, this article about McCain raising this much confirms my suspicions.

It seems to me that Mccain raised less than Obama because he has less supporters, not because the maximum for public financing is 84 mil.
