Would be cool if I could link my retail copy to STEAM, but I'm not going to re-buy just because it's on STEAM now.
To me, that's a waste of money. The retail version works perfectly fine. :)

But, from Zulie's view, I don't use STEAM nearly as much as he does for chatting and such. So, being able to talk with "friends" while playing a game isn't really that important to me.

Re: The steam store thread

You can add the game to the Steam list as a Non-Steam game, then you can get the in-game steam overlay. The web browser is especially useful. ;)

Re: The steam store thread

I think Zulie also enjoys the ability to install, reinstall and update without needing to swap discs, search for patches and such.

Some retail keys can be added to Steam but it's entirely up to the publisher. Speaking of which the developer of Machinarium announced that anyone who preordered from them directly will be able to use their keys to activate on steam once it is released. Mighty nice of them.

I just pre-ordered Dragon Age on steam. I can't wait to get that game. I'm thinking about getting Mass Effect on PC to keep me busy for the next couple of weeks.

Seeing as tho Wolfenstein isn't a Steam title (it wasn't in their store database), I guess I can use that feature to add this to there... Wonder if anyone else did this yet.

BTW: I used the steam overlay on Oblivion before it was released to steam.

1 Euro = 1.48689 US this means

59,99 Euros on steam = 89.20$

...no thanks!

Just in case anyone doesn't know, you can pick up the Witcher enhanced edition for 19.99 on Steam right now. I grabbed it. I never really played it before, and I heard lots and lots of good things about it.

The overlay should work with any game...
I don't know why you guy's are getting worked up about something like that.

It basically 'injects' itself into the game.
Just like a hack would, that's why some game's think steam is a hack/cheat.

Make sure to take your time and get through ACT TWO. It's tedious and long and the worst act, but it gets better after it.

Eh, I've played enough rpg's that have dull middle acts. I'm sure I'll be able to get through it.

I tried it out this morning to make sure it works. It wouldn't launch at all and I was a little worried. I just restarted my computer though and it worked fine. So I'll be ready to play a bit more when I get home.

Been wanting to play this too but still unsure. Lemme know how it is.

game is a steal at $20. there were some annoying issues at launch, those have been resolved. That + a lot of additional content.

Wolfenstein must've been just a recent title on Steam (which would make it a month after the physical boxed version's release, iirc), because I typed that in there a couple of weeks ago, and came up with Wolf 3D instead, and RtCW. Wonder why the delay in time before Activision/id decided to release it there?

Earthworm Jim, Earthworm Jim 2, and Earthworm Jim 3D were all put up on steam with the very reasonable price of 20 dollars :mryuck:

[edit]Nevermind, steam messed up the games on the front page and listed them each as 19.99 but when you click on them it takes you to the page to order the Earthworm Jim Pack which is 20 bucks. Now THAT is not a bad deal.[/edit]

Re: The steam store thread

Specially since you can buy all three for 12 bucks at gog.

Boo Boo Juice 11-05-2009 04:58 PM

Re: The steam store thread

I wonder if gog is restricted to Korea. I would definitely pick up some games from them if they don't have restrictions like D2D and Impulse.

[edit]Oh and on another note Mass Effect is 9.99 this weekend.[/edit]

Serious Sam HD, to be precise. ;)

I dunno if I should get serious sam for PC or for xbox live :(

20 bucks is a lot of money right now anyway, so I may just wait on it for a while.

Re: The steam store thread

Well it is just up for preorder at the moment, and you save a couple of bucks preording it. It will be $15 for the Xbox.

Morbid 11-08-2009 04:58 AM

Re: The steam store thread

As much as I loved SS I don't think it's worth it just for more polys and new textures. Why not save the money for some other or new title?

I say PC. That's where Sam's roots are. :)

I think my friends are getting it for Xbox, so I'll probably grab it for that so I can hit up some co-op with them.

Based on that one picture alone, I'd agree because the original was bathed in moonlight. But I'm sure there are other atmospheric levels in the new version too.

You must have your brightness turned all the way up in the game, and on your monitor too.

Here is a brightly lit image for all you crazies, and some gibs to boot.

I was referring to the difference in lighting between the quoted pics below. And I think the original does look better. It was a beautiful, attractive game I thought. The new pic makes it seem rather 'lifeless'...

Overlord franchise is 75% off this weekend and Crysis collection (or the games seperate) are 50% off. Those seem like some decent deals there. Both crysis games for 30 bucks? That is pretty dope.

I never played Overlord, but I hear its pretty awesome.

Looks like Steam is having a five day-different deals each day sale this week

http://store.steampowered.com/early-holiday

I may just spring for 50% off on Batman:AA

Re: The steam store thread

Heh...seems like Crysis may give my hardware a workout all right. Better make sure I overclock before playing that bad boy. Probably may wait until I get my SSD delivered first, which by that time, the sale may be over. Since it's Thanksgiving weekend, it may take almost a week before that shows up. Oh well.
