You can just buy games now and download/play them later you know :P I just bought Dragon Age ($37USD less than half Aussie retail) and I won't even install it until the Christmas holidays

I already own batman on xbox, but it is one of my favorite games of all time. I may have to take advantage of this 50% off deal. I would not mind going through it again on my computer.

That is pretty much what I'm doing. I'm going to try and grab at least two games everyday for that 5 day sale.

Is that your cunning plan, my lord?

Anyone catch any Black Friday deals on Steam? I'm looking through now, but not too sure which is most recommended at this point.

I can see that LucasArts and THQ are having $50 Complete Pack deals, whether or not those are any good, still curious.

Steve 11-27-2009 11:34 AM

Re: The steam store thread

Well too late. Deals for what you were looking at are gone :p

The THQ And Lucasarts deals are still there, but the rest have changed to a new set

nothing particularly interests me this time around...

Yeah, I grabbed that KOTOR. Tempted to get Dead Space for 15 too. That game was solid for 15 bucks.

Re: The steam store thread

now how many of you re-buy games to have them on steam?

Steve 11-27-2009 10:46 PM

Re: The steam store thread

They only games I have purchased again are the Quake ones :o

Boo Boo Juice 11-27-2009 11:36 PM

Re: The steam store thread

The only ones I have done that with is Batman and Mass Effect. I have them both on XBox, but since I have a PC powerful enough to play them at their max settings, I wanted them on steam.

It's amazing how much Steam contributes to the anti-piracy and to PC sales in general with such killer prices.
It also shows that people really buy games when they are not set ridiculously high-priced by the publi$hers.

Re: The steam store thread

I'd buy SWAT 4 Gold on Steam, had Irrational and Vivendi ever put that game on there. With me building this new PC, I doubt that anyone else would allow you to install it again.

Got Ghostbusters  Others I'm not so interested in.

Almost all of mine. Wolfenstein though I'm waiting to drop in price as I bought it for $50 already once.

Sales happen man. Get over it. Only buy things that are on sale and/or old and you'll save lots of money but you'll have to wait.

I think 2 weeks ago it was under 40.

Unless its a must have game,i usually wait for a sale.
Since sales are every weekend, the odds are good.

Im going to assume you will see a sale like this again christmas week.

Well, back when I bought the Unreal Deal Pack a couple of months ago, I sort of duplicated games that I had physical copies of, so that tells you something.

I have been using http://www.direct2drive.com/default.aspx to DL games but most of the cool games aren't available in Australia, will I encounter this BS if I joined steam? I want to buy Borderlands.

Steve 11-28-2009 10:11 PM

Re: The steam store thread

You use Direct2Drive? That is SHIT for us down under. Use steam and you'll have a lot more games to choose from.

I just got into it and got Red Faction and Deus Ex, 2 games I missed out on and loving it now. I do see alot of games on steam that I want but what about playing them offline? didnt steam have issues about that? and do i get the game exe files so i can put it on my laptop as well?

cheers

Paroxysm 11-28-2009 11:39 PM

Re: The steam store thread

Offline isn't' really an issue with steam anymore. If you're not online it'll start in offline mode. That's all there is too it. You can install it on as many machines as you want unless the game itself has extra restrictions (in these cases it's nothing to do with steam and the same limits would apply no matter where you bought the game).

If you want borderlands it's $33.49 today. Now this is a bullshit thing about steam; the Aussie price is actually $53.59 because 2K Games are screwing us around. There are lots of ways to buy the US price though. If you're having too much trouble just ask an american friend to buy it and gift it to you.

Yeah, it's the only Prince of Persia game I'm missing. And 15 bucks is an awesome price.
