Exclamation Anti-spam software or extensions for Thunderbird?
I have a neighbor who I help with computer issues once in awhile and we tried an anti-spam extension for awhile, but it filtered out some important e-mails, and some others that we couldn't get back (though you were able to retrieve many, they were quarantined - some were just missing entire content suddenly).

So we uninstalled it for the mean time and since I don't really get spam (Gmail account), I'm not sure what she could use. She uses an ISP e-mail, short of suggesting her to get a better, free e-mail account I'm not sure what we can do.

I got tired of trying to train Thunderbird or run extra mail filtering software.

Have her set up a gmail account, THEN import her isp's account into it (click on settings, then the accounts tab, etc.). You can set the "from" info to default to her isp's account.

And if she likes Thunderbird, you can use it with the combined gmail account.

I say switch personally. The best way to get rid of spam is to abandon the account, since it's just going to follow you. Gmail works with thunderbird so it wouldn't be any different to her, just better spam management.

i'm not kind of sure it's a good thing that gmail keeps getting all that email market share and continuing to be the king of e-mail providers. It kind of scares me the monster that google is now.
