Duke3D Ultimate Patch

Is 3DR going to make an ultimate patch for those of us that have actual Duke3D CDs...

By making a proper patch that patches all the versions of the Duke3D CD's in one patch program by detecting CRC or md Values, instead of by file dates?

I say this cause the old and even revised patches fail on original installs these days cause the file dates don't get written correctly on modern os's during the install process.

Just wondering.

Have you tried using Eduke32?
http://www.eduke32.com/

It makes DN3d playable in most of OSes in full HD and it can run great mods such as, High Resolution Pack, The AMC team, Duke plus... (And the list goes on).

Re: Duke3D Ultimate Patch

I tried EDuke32 when I had a ATI card, it didn't go well then...

But the point is I have a special edition duke3d and I want to be-able to unlock it. Plus others have v1.3d or v1.4 disks and want to patch there game but can not.

As for EDuke32, I recall it doesn't work too well with ATI cards. JonoF port might work with ATI cards.

1.3v is the original Duke3D 3 episode game

1.4v is the Plutinium Pak, which adds fixes and a 4th episode to the original game

1.5v is Duke3D Atomic Edition, which includes all 4 Episodes and Plutonium Pak.

There are smaller patches that would patch the game to 1.3v, 1.4v to 1.5v.

All of this is from memory.

EDuke32 will work fine in classic mode regardless of your graphics card.

I figured I'd get an answers from 3DR by now. Whats up?

Doesn't matter if its a No to making a new patch, I'd still like the know.

Check this Document out, you'll see why I'm asking:

Re: Duke3D Ultimate Patch

The reason we created patches in the old days was to avoid long downloads of the entire game again. In 2014, with games of this size, this is less of an issue. We'd likely be more likely to just have someone download the whole thing all over again. :)

While I can't give a 100% gospel answer on this, I'd be surprised if we tried to do this now.

Alright thanks.

If you do make the new single patch please let us know so we can offer feedback.
Some of us didn't want to buy the game over again so this would be nice.

Hmmm... An official patch from many years later. That is interesting, really interesting! I wonder what else could happen from said patch besides fixes and what not.

Not every patch released means "something new". :)

I do hold a record for longest time between a release and a maintenance patch. For Crystal Caves & Secret Agent. I released a patch for these on October 24, 2005, some 14 years after they were released originally. It fixed a Y2K computer date bug.

You are right! But you might as well put a special message! Like if the player finish the game beating all the chapters within par time you could greet them with a message like: "Congratulationzz, u just unloked Duk Nukum 4ever betaz 2play. 'Joy it." And you greet them with a random image of Frederik twerking for a Duke Nukem 2 song. What about it, eh?

You could very well consider Megaton the "official patch", even though you have to buy it.
