Re: Duke Nukem 3D Modelling Project part 4

Radar 1013 I see that current defs use only 2 skins, for normal and dead state, so it would need rewriting defs, but anyway using this skin is pointless because I tested it and there is no noticalbe difference.

Re: Duke Nukem 3D Modelling Project part 4

Well the motion blur was a nice way to beef up the old sprite, but I must admit I didn't really miss it on the model. Dunno how the others see it but work on new textures and models such as the missing stripper babe should have higher priority. Besides, this topic would rather belong into the revisions thread, anyway.

If you need inspirations for your next contribution... ;)

Even though unmade righres models and textures would be better, it doesn't mean this can't be added into the HRP. I thought it looked good when i looked at the skin, but the thing is that i don't have the HRP so i can't test it for myself in the actual game.

@Spiker
You said that you tested it out and you saw no difference? Are you sure that the right texture was being loaded? Notice how i named the skin "1915_commander_spin" instead of "1915_commander".

Spiker 02-14-2008 03:27 PM

Re: Duke Nukem 3D Modelling Project part 4

I renamed it and changed it to png format again and them replaced the old skin. Why don't you try it yourself? Oh you can't test it, buy a new computer then!

Re: Duke Nukem 3D Modelling Project part 4

My computer is very good FYI. It has a 3.6GHz proceser and 2.5GB of RAM. The only problem is that i have an Intel video card, witch works fine with the HRP without a problem, unless you have Vista, and i have Vista!

That's why it sucks, it has Vista.

The video card is bad too, but i havn't seen any problems with it on XP.

And are you sure you can't see a difference? Take a screenshot ar something so i can see. Of course you don't have to if you don't want to, but don't you wanna be a good friend?:p

Maybe later I will post some screenshot but I don't promise since you did not write anything in my profile;)

For me it's very late now, I'm going to sleep

So, this is the first time i've attempted to wirte a .DEF do here i go.

In the attatched .ZIP file, i have my new Commander skin and the Commander definitions so that you see the blured the skin only when he does his "spin" attack.

oink oink! :D

Maybe not perfectly accurate to the original sprite, but it looks like geisha and that's what I wanted.

Feel free about updating texture.

Let's say it's dedicated to all who have birthday today (blinks to Spiker ;) )

Ah cool. :D

I'll work on the skin soon, it just screams for update :)

Re: Duke Nukem 3D Modelling Project part 4

thank you very much! I always dreamt of this kind of gift for my birthday!!!

Pity that I have to leave my geisha at home for a few days, while I'll be away AGAIN!:(

Both :)

Re: Duke Nukem 3D Modelling Project part 4

As this model is used in one of my favorite levels, I'll surely give this one a try ;)
Well, after I get some school-related shit sorted out, which is likely to be done by the end of the week.

After skin update this could be finally something more spectacular again in this "Dead Zone" HRP additions time...

thinks are moving up, finally... screenshot isn't very indicative, but with a good skin sure it will work ;)

since nowone cares about small models I decided to killit from the todo list:
#619

Re: Duke Nukem 3D Modelling Project part 4

Awesome job. I never noticed this one wasn't done.;)

But what about 616 and 617?
616 is the same pipe but it's broken and 617 is the same pipe but with a different texture.

alandog 02-20-2008 03:48 PM

Re: Duke Nukem 3D Modelling Project part 4

looks like a renewed project interest, which really make happy "silent fans" like me ;)

Piterplus 02-21-2008 06:47 AM

Re: Duke Nukem 3D Modelling Project part 4

Cool pipe, Roma! Thanks.

BTW, broken state pipe may be achieved without modifying model itself - just by changing skin, I think that will be enough.

Roma Loom 02-21-2008 07:08 AM

Re: Duke Nukem 3D Modelling Project part 4

Hmm.. those broken pipes aren't in the to-do list, probably they aren't used in the maps but I think I'll make them later...

Just try to shoot at it in E2L3 (see screenshot) and you'll see #617 in all its broken glory :)

Uhm, not to be an arse or anything, but... why hasn't anyone seen/modelled the storm trooper from -Lunar Reactor yet?

Ya guys did do the doom marine >.>

Mr.Fibbles 02-21-2008 01:39 PM

Re: Duke Nukem 3D Modelling Project part 4

The Doomed Space Marine was something someone wanted to do.

At this point, we are actually lucky anyone is making anything,. to be honest.
The missing models that are not used in many levels (if at all in the main game) are not priority right now.

Ah. Now i know why the hyrdo plant hasn't been finished yet.

Also, I am too busy to work on it right now. I had some help on the leaves but I am so swamped with school that I haven't gotten around to finishing off the skin etc.
Eventually I will get around to it though.;)

Re: Duke Nukem 3D Modelling Project part 4

I've added the broken-state pipe into the same archive along with #619 posted above.

Awesome!

Now what about 616? It would use the same model as 619 except the blue part is yellow.

EDIT: Heck, i'll take the work off of you and i'll do it. It's easy. It uses the same model as 619.

Raziel-chan 02-21-2008 05:35 PM

Just dropping by to express just how cool you all are :3

It was also already done. Someone just posed the model and made a bloody skin.

Re: Duke Nukem 3D Modelling Project part 4

There are still a few "guest star" props left to be made, such as the impaled Indy or the crushed Terminator (although I don't know if that one can be modelled since it's floor-aligned... its hand however can be made). They are just begging for being created! ;)

Hellbound 02-22-2008 10:11 AM

Re: Duke Nukem 3D Modelling Project part 4

Hehe, but problem with motivation is that those models would require a lot of work for being only once in the whole game :)

Guess you're right, since babes are more frequent and various mesh are already ready... I think it's best to concentrate on them (yes I know, I'm paranoid about babe models)

@ escapist
how things are going? I'm courious to hear something 'bout you...

Radar1013 02-22-2008 03:30 PM

Re: Duke Nukem 3D Modelling Project part 4

Shouldn't 0621 (witch is the camera) get a glowmap? Theres a little light on the texture and because of the light, it should get a glowmap.

...huh?..oh...me?

'got sidetracked for a while...
But see what i've been working on:
http://www.geocities.com/the_escapis...ce_shuttle.jpg

SPACE SHUTTLE #487 in less than 500 polys!!
of course, i suck in making textures. So if Roma Loom, Gt1750 or anyone would do the honors of making a texture, here's the file:

escapist 02-23-2008 03:16 AM

Re: Duke Nukem 3D Modelling Project part 4

..and.. oh yeah.

sorry, alandog, you were asking about Stripper babe #1317? (pls. excuse my A.D.D. )
well, i'm kinda finished but i'm sorta stuck with a dilemma now...take a look:

http://www.geocities.com/the_escapist_2000/strp.jpg

she's around 1500 polys and I made her face happier (like NightFright suggested )
Texture of her body and clothes is not done, of course.
I think these faces are kinda sexy and attractive (and i've got a bunch of these)
However, the problem is they don't look consistent with the other babes already in the game.

Pls. tell me what you think, guys.

Spiker 02-23-2008 03:23 AM

Re: Duke Nukem 3D Modelling Project part 4

She looks for about 35-40 years which is far too old.

And the boobs need crucial improvement (it's not a matter of size, at least not completely;) )
