That CE model sure has a great death animation. It really stands out from the other models, which fall like planks of wood when they die.

I think when you get to over 2000 post on a thread people could use to keep track of what has been done, it is good to split it up.

I too noticed the death animation was superb. it was very close to the original.

any thoughts on making the ending movie? (The "Game Over" scene with Duke kicking the eye ball through the goal post)

I Don't know.
It would be handier to split each time an pack goes public, so people would only have to dig through to the new threat to find stuff that isn't in it yet.

Not that i have any experience moderating an forum.

There are plans afoot by various parties to do this. I'm not sure as to exactly when. For me it would mean re-rigging and weight-painting the duke character in Blender (as he was created in Max). Same in reverse for Parkar with the Cycloid.

@ Dennis J - Here's the Cycloid download link:

Cheers! Can do. I need a .blend or .obj from from Hellbound. He may want to do it himself anyway.

I've sent Piterplus the PS file for the broken skin.

well, technically, Parkar would only have to have the dead Cycloid. I guess the easiest way I can think of is exporting the corpse frame. the hard part might be breaking off the eye, but even that isn't that hard.
I think you should be able to export just that frame or something.

None of that is really that difficult. The bit that is challenging is that you are in effect making a little 'pixar-style' movie as none of the rendering is done in game.

You have to make a 3D stadium, light it, shoot it and render the whole thing in your 3D app. of choice.

None of it is particularly 'difficult'. Just kinda time-consuming. Its going to be a lot of fun though!

Re: Duke Nukem 3D Modelling Project part 3
the most time consuming thing is often the rendering process. camera motion can be tedious too.
I made a video for a project once, did the whole thing in Blender. something like 800 frames. It took an entire day to render the whole thing. I ran many mini renders to test timing etc, that took time. But this was a movie for me to add my voice in the background. I had it synced up to a poem and everything. Got an A.

for the stadium, you only have to make like a fourth of the whole thing. just mirror it on the x and y.

L2, I can do the skin after the optimizations, but I can't start before 22nd Feb.
Anyway, don't forget to update the To Do List!

For others:

How come anyone didn't notice this? It's not even on NightFright's Ep.1 To Do List - 0991 (shower in E1L3) It's the same as tile 572, which is unused in the game.

Considering I will be making the installer as soon as I get my internet connection at home (hoping for this week or at the begining of the next at the latest) this is pretty close to a new release anyway.

Don't make the blood too bright. Look at the painskins in SD_Duke and make like that.

0578 is a reactor? I thought it's some kind of futuristic holo globe.

EDIT: GRPViewer says it's reactor2... well I confused that with another tile
Anyway 0578 isn't used in the game at all, but I saw it in few usermaps.

Grab it!

@ everyone - Great work guys! It's really coming together. Like the new skin for the jar. The cracks look good. Glad the Queen is coming together as well. The Reactor looks great as well! As to the CE's death skin. I originally did a more 'natural' blood color, but it dosen't show up in game. I had to ape the 'mango chutney' look for it to be visible at all!

I had a special technique when I did the original painskins. I don't quite remember it though, it's been a while. All I know is I did it in layers, added different ammounts of blurring, and layer blending, and messed with the color saturation to get it to look how it did. I should really mess with that again.
