PSX music pack for EDuke32
Hi, everybody. This is my first thing which has to do with EDuke32.
On the base of HRP music pack, I`ve made a PSX music pack, which consists mostly on Mark Knight`s music for PSX version of DN3D.
But before I`ll release it, I want to know 1 thing - is it necessary for you? I mean - maybe something like that already exists, and I`ve just wasted my time?
Also, the size of that pack is 138 MB, since all songs I`ve put there are 128 kbps OGG files, not 64 kbps as it is in the original pack....

So, can I? Or I cannot?

Well, I can always say yes for new music and yeah, I've downloaded a 99 MB music pack a few days go so it can come in handy for me. I don't know it's up to you to release it as it's all yours (You'll be credited if you release)

That's Mark Knight's page. Scroll down to where it says Duke Nukem 3D, Playstation (1997). He has all the mp3s for download.

it is just like in the PSX version - on some levels music was repeating....don`t ask me, why
The problem for me was to correctly remember, which song played on the some levels. Yeah, I do have PSX Total Meltdown - but for some unknown reasons, game slows down...

As for those songs you mentioned....well, at first, I tried to modify music.def, inside the zip. To be more precise, I changed some song names, according to how songs were playing on PSX. But after some tests, I noticed that instead of PSX OGG`s, duke3d.grp`s midi were playing.
So, I decided to insert same song in the pack 2 times, if it was like PSX version.
I believe that it has something to do with the order of the songs in duke3d.grp...
But if somebody can make that music can be repeated on the necessary levels instead of copy\pasting it again - you can do that.

I wanted to achieve maximum effect from this music pack - as if you`re playing PSX HRP
It is you, who can say - was I able to do that or not.

OK, and here is another link to it. (somebody asked me to upload it to sendspace, right?)

Yeah, he did, and thanks for reply again.

By the way, you don't have to copy the same music files over and over, it just takes space. Instead, edit the music.def file to play the same song for the other songs.

I tried that - watch my post higher
But that didn`t worked.
Also, check readme in the pack - I`ve explained there as well these reasons.
However, if you know how to repeat these tracks without copying same tracks - you can do that.

Re: PSX music pack for EDuke32
You just need to put he music name in, wherever it repeats. For example;

The above part is where the robocrep is used should look like;

"highres/music/robocrep.ogg" // Robocrep.ogg

This part is where the spook is used should look like;

"highres/music/robocrep.ogg" //spook.ogg

Since, they are both the same, using that one again wouldn't hurt. That's what you simply have to do and it should work.

Re: PSX music pack for EDuke32
So, are you trying to say that, for example, the line
Music { ID "E3L11" file "highres/music/" } // whomp.ogg
should be looking like
Music { ID "E3L11" file "highres/music/snake1.ogg" } // whomp.ogg
or it`s not?

Hmm... Saturn music pack...

N64 music pack would be easy. Just replace Grabbag and turn the music off.

LMAO @ the N64 pack.

I'd really like to see what the Saturn pack would be like.
Or play all the levels over on the Saturn after watching the youtube video.

Man the Saturn version looks cool awesome compared to the PSX and especially 64 versions.

Course I didn't see the stripper in the Saturn version...so that may be a bit premature for me to say.

In that case, I'll get both of those together. It's nice because the makers of the Saturn version used the Grabbag from the Duke3D disc.
