Well the term EMO in regards to music is loaded anyway. All music worth listening draws out at least one emotion (sadness, happiness, excitement, glee, anger, rage...etc)

Well, they didn't used to be. Goths are obviously people who wear mostly black, suck each other's blood and go to the Rocky Horror Picture Show every Saturday. When I went to high school, emos where dorks who wore big rimmed black glasses who prided themselves on looking as dorky as possible. In other words, the complete opposite of goth. However, now my younger cousin who is in junior high calls herself emo but she looks pretty gothed out to me. Goth and Emo are two loaded archetypes. Goths and GOTHIC imply dark, foreboding personalities. Most people never reach that, and no wearing BLACK is not the end all be all of gothicism, and being EMO is essentially a "styled" way of saying someone is a crybaby.

hey.
me REALLY early duke takes were alot more emo then this.
what i have found is, (at least for the duke theme) if you remove the drums, you change the atmosphere in a major way.
that was the main thing behind this.

i know the guitar is not balanced well, but my pod xt was being b!7chy.
i dont think i will be doing another take with live guitar, so this is my final.
if im likely to make any changes, i will redo the drums and leave the guitar tracks.
ive decided to upload it to my band page, so ppl can actually download the file.

Great job! I really like it!

However i don't know if you did this on purpose or not but i think that:

1) The drums track is imo a lot louder than the guitar track
2) The mood is a bit too leisure and colourless. I would expect a more confident and fast-paced guitar lead with never heard before fills.
3) I can't hear a bass track

anyway i really like it in general terms

i dont have a bass, so i didnt add one. i didnt bother using a synth, cause they dont always sound to real. ive never mixed live guitar with a vst b4, so i didnt want to try on the duke theme. i will probably try doing it when i actually write a song ment to be played on guitar.

The highest the song hit was #27. Currently it's dropped down to #35.

Wow at the description of the tune in the website:

"ive seen ALOT of people play this song incorrectly. so i did my own version that was more true to the midi version compared to the megadeth take."

Care to please tell us how many people did the song incorrectly? Megadeth's was fine, but who else? I hope you're not claiming that you did a better version than VertexGuy or something, because he's the only other person I could think of.

VertexGuy's was based on megadeth's arrangement of the song, which differs from Lee Jackson's. The original midi plays differently. Or at least that's what I think he meant.

umm, i didnt claim that i did it better then vertex guy.
he is one of the few that did it correctly.
if you go on youtube, there are ALOT of badly done, and incorrect takes on it.
that is what i am refering to.

vertex guys theme uses alot of stuff that came directly from the megadeth version.
i tried to stay away from that as much as i could. (not saying anything about vertexguy's take, his is one of the best)
mine was mostly influenced by Duke 3D and Duke Manhattan Project

The Plutonium Pak theme (I mean the tune that was on track 2 of the PP CD) is available at ftp://ftp.3drealms.com/misc/grabbag.zip .
I don't know about the DNMP version.
