Actually, tommyhawk.com seems to be impersonating the home page of the real web site www.tombarthsmusicbox.com . If you go there, you will find a picture and link to the band website www.blackfootrocks.com

Perhaps this band created music for Prey. I hope so, cause their tunes create a nice western/rock atmosphere and sound great.

TommyHawk.com seems to be nothing but a single page with a SWF and a link that deep links into a real website. This seems weird considering the real website has different info on their homepage and the two domains are owned by different people - so I think impersonating was an ok description.

Perhaps its a clue or Tom Barth (who makes a miniature guitar called the TommyHawk) asked Joe to transfer the domain and instead Joe just said gimme your home page (but seems a bit far fetched). I'm just trying to find either a clue or an explanation for the discrepancy.

If putting up the page was deliberate then we get some nice music out of it. Perhaps a local band in the game? Speculating and concluding without real facts is fun!

The website has been around for a while; 3DR probably bought it from them but havent changed the nameservers. I dont see any significance of it. Also the site has looked like that since Dec 16, 2003.

The flash-based site was started in 2003. The content in the flash is very similar to what was in the site in 1998. For the theory of it meaning something, 3DR would have to have bought the domain in 2003. Do you really think they would have a clue hanging out there since then?

and, as i posted above, look at archive.org for evidence.

The copywright on the site is Tom Barth. He filed for a trademark for "The original Tommy Hawk" in 1995, and it is still live.

The first filing of the name "Tommy Hawk" by Apogee was in 1998, which died in 2001. Two new ones were brought up again in 2002 and 2003, which are still live.

There is nothing pointing to any releavence at all.

I'm not saying anything regarding about the current status of the game. Im simply saying that the content of the site has nothing to do with 3drealms or any upcomming game. There is no "clue."

Re: The Prey website
"Plastic people" is caused by over use of specular. It's used to create more hash looking detail in the models by enhancing the bumpmapping which in conjuntion with the lighting you do get that shiny look, but I don't think it's a reason to cry. It's barely noticable when actually moving in game. Screenshots open themselves to intense scrutiny and flaws are apparent.

Turn off the specular and you get HL2 style flat textures. You can bump up the res too. Trust me, the same style will be used in future engines (It's being done in UE3) but when the textures are so low res everything looks kind of ..wierd. Bumping up the res serves to limit the performance of the game, but it makes the effect more realistic.

It's really a design choice, you could easily leave out the specular map.

On another note, as for now I don't plan to change my computer, maybe end 2007 I will do. If DNF comes out before, hopefully, I'll play it on my dad's new computer.

I'm sure there's where 3DR ripped the design/ graphics off of.

Also, I like how the text under Talequah Communications changed from: "This site is under Consumption and Comming Soon" to: "Your Changing Source for Communications". Subtle.
