I don't think you can describe Christian Bale's commitment to a character/role as being in the range of "normal". That case in point would be too extreme to be used for just any actor.

Not really. If anything it shows duke is overly possible to made over. Cause really, all you need is some body with a body building look (Few months of training), a flat top (any hair stylist could do it) and some clothes. Even if the face isnt perfect, your not going to see a lot of it because of the glasses anyways. Pretty much any action actor could do it.

The point is, the acting and the sound and the actor's enthusiasm are way more important than he looks.

I'm not saying it can't be done, just that an example as dramatic as Bale's is far from the norm. That was scary, what he'd done to himself.

Yes, the acting and the voice are most important. And basic body structure(like height and weight) are also needed.

AAAAHHHHHHH yes the Duke Nukem Movie. I'll tell you right now it won't happen anytime soon. Maybe after DNF comes out and reminds everyone of how bad@$$ Duke is then maybe, As far as whos gonna play duke, I have no ideas, although Vin Diesel(don't hurt me for saying this) would work in my opionion, hes already got a good body, give him a flat top and some shades and we have Duke, let him talk in a deeper voice and we have a winner, the only problem would be getting him to do the movie.

I found a good lookalike for the movie. Its actually the lead singer for the offspring (Dexter Holland)
I reckon its cool because i always felt that the offspring would be the type of band that duke would listen to because the music suits duke nukems persona. Enjoy

I just really hope that this idea resurfaces! Because just imagine how amazing it would be to watch duke splash guts all over the place without telling him what to do!!

As long as they keep a relation with the Duke NUKEM games though because i mean look at the DOOM movie, It had so much potential but because it had no relation to the game (i mean come on they changed the whole way how the demons made it onto mars)

If they keep that relation to the games it will rock!!

And hopefully if DNF comes out it will spark interest in duke again and this project can come out of the graveyard

I would do a Duke Nukem trilogy which combines the most important Duke games :

- First movie based on Duke Nukem I : Duke fights the Doctor Proton and his army of robots

- Second movie based on Duke Nukem II and Time To Kill : Duke is abducted by aliens but he manages to escape. Unable to kill him, they will then go back through time to eliminate his ancestors

- Third movie based on Duke Nukem 3D : Aliens decide it's time to invade earth even if Duke isn't dead which will be a big mistake

This is my vision of a good Duke trilogy.

I think it's be best if the did the first Movie based on Duke Nukem 1 and Manhattan project I.E Dr. Proton takes over Manhattan. That also would allow Mutants and Robots for Duke to fight.

2nd Movie based on Duke Nukem 2, expanding the plot so that the Rigelatins have not only abducted Duke but other Military and Political figures and are also draining their brains to best fight earth. When Duke breaks free the Rigelatins turn the Abducted soldiers into brainless zombie like soldiers to track Duke down (Their are humanoid helmet wearing enemies in Duke 2). Also add in some females.

3rd movie, Duke 3d with very little changes.

4th film well unless Forever comes anytime soon a combination of Time To Kill, Zero Hour and Land Of the Babes as all involve time travel and dystopian futures.

When I was like 8 and playing DN3D on our ye aulde computer (Don't kill me for playing it when I was too young for it :C) , I used to think that Arnold Schwarzenegger would be my choice for playing Duke in a movie. Of course he should have his hair coloured blonde and such, but I think this was probably mainly due to Arnie's badass reputation.
Well, nowadays he's too old and too busy for it anyways so what the heck.
But as many have said, I too don't think that a DN movie will be done in a long time, unless some hardcore Duke fan gets into professional film making or some director really likes DNF. But we can always dream!

movies take months to produce and they dont release it right away either. foer machinist he didnt eat much at all to shrink like that. i dont know whether he did the machinist before or after thwe other one where he looks in shape but it could be either or. he being a rich hollywood type probably had a very expensive personal trainer and worked out 5-7 days a week to get in shape. those images arent altered his body did look like that in both cases.

Lesnar is going to be kicking ass like Duke soon. He has only been training for about 2 years MMA and Destroyed Heath Herring, not beat, DESTROYED. Herring has been in MMA since 1997- No one is saying he would crush Fedor or Nogueira, but he is very impressive.

Some people dont give him enough credit b\c of his ex-WWE status, but give credit where its due.

Who cares honestly? Thats not what this thread is about.

We're not just looking for a guy with muscles. We're looking for a guy with some muscle, and attitude. You dont just need beefcake. You need a good lookin' guy too, someone who can smirk in that badass Duke way.

That really brings me to two actors; John Cena, or Howie Long. Either one of them would be okay, without being a huge name, or being all about the muscles. Just look at Arnold, yeah he was huge, as hell, but thats not what really got him all his roles. It was his personality, and his dedication, that got him all those roles.

He didn't destroy Herring. He fought Herring who is an average fighter to a decision win. His other fight was a loss in the first round to Mir. Lesnar has done nothing to prove himself within the MMA world and it is ludicrous that he is fighting for the title against Couture with his one win, one loss record. Oh and on topic, cast Howie!
