half life has a pretty large and intense story, its just so well integrated into the gameplay it doesn't seem like you are sitting there watching some one explain to you whats happening (like in some games).

Any humor in the game should come from Duke's attitude and view of things. Keep the goofy pop-culture references confined to the secret areas.
id like to see some stupid posters and billboards though, those were always great. and wouldn't really take away from the seriousness of the story line.

Yeah that would be fine since even the real world is full of stupid posters and billboards!

As long as there's at least one poster for the Duke Nukem movie (which I believe was being filmed in 3D), that'd be great.

In reply to joes comment , we really dont need much info , i think its easy to figure out that dnf will make us laugh and we'll be intensely rapped in the game while we're playin it.If the type of humor is in dnf that was in d3d which i think they are striving for all thats left is hardcore butt whoopin for hours of great entertainment

i like the balance that duke nukem has. i just hope that if there is a big slap in the face plot line that its not like it was in bioshock.... big slap in the face and then a pathetic boss and ending.

after all i mainly play DN for the humor.

and yes die hard is a good example

It will be as serious as it needs to be.

The conflict and the struggle should seem very serious, but Duke should keep his sense of humor.
