Im trying to keep this semi-realistic.. kind of like an interactive low budget zombie flick. Once its done like I said in a previous post i'm going to release everything I have and people can do what they want with it (hell, they can add phazer rays for all I care).

I'm posting from a friends house at the moment but when I get home i'll take those screenshots I promised you guys.

Right now im working on getting the art, sound and .CON work out of the way. Except for the texture pack that I already have put together im going to have the mappers take care of the textures (afterall, they're the ones who will be needing them).

At the moment Decay is at Alpha stage. We have one complete level, a few other levels that im going to be finishing myself and one or two final hires weapons (the weapons shown in the above shots are from the DOS version).

The enemies that I have at the moment are the ones from the celebrated "Zombies" TC for Doom, the zombie from quake, the zombie from "Xorcist" by Kef Nukem and the bloated butcher from Blood. These will most likely all be replaced before any release with the exception of maybe the "Xorcist" zombie and the bloated butcher due to the fact that I got permission from Monolith. If I can track down the designer of the "Zombies" mod for Doom I may use those as well.. but i'm not sure yet. I would love to get completely new sprites done, however I dont know of anyone who would contribute.

Alright, I'm in really bad need of level designers. I have two maps or so that can be used if tweaked right.

Basically like I said before it's mainly city environments. I have lots of gore sprites to let you guys go wild. If someone wanted to do a graveyard type deal, or something in an industrial district.. (or a mall ) then that would be great.

Im currently building a city map myself... Its a slow proccess tho cause I'm working 3 jobs for the holiday season and Im in the middle of moving out so I havent had much time for putting in it, but Im working on making it eerie, adding custom sounds etc.. I would be more than happy to see how it would work out with your textures if you want, but it might be a while b4 Im finished.. If you wanan talk to me about it.

I think that it would rule if there was a weapon that was both chainsaw and shotty (if EDuke32 supports altfire) a la Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness.

About the testers.. I am not accepting any testers at the moment. That doesn't mean that I wont get them ever.. nor does it mean that I will definitely do it either.

But no matter about the tester thing, I'll still try to keep you guys coagulated with screenshots and movies if they're possible. (the movies.. not the screenshots )

That would be me I've only just recently logged into these forums so forgive me for not finding this topic sooner :P Thanks to Roger I found it now.
Anyway the screenshots look great! I love anything scary so I would like to help a bit if I could. But please understand that right now I'm trying to finish red5 (which also will have scary elements) so I won't have much time at the moment I'm afraid.

I plan on getting some serious work done on Decay today so an update should be coming soon.

I noticed a lot of you are really into this mod which is really cool If you want try and track down some stuff that can be used for the mod, May it be sound effects/music or even sprites and animations.. It would help out a lot.

Or possibly you were once working on a mod and it died (it happens, trust me I know) and would like to contribute your work to be merged into Decay? You would definitely be credited for your efforts I could even use your pic from a digital camera and use it in some easter eggs

I'm probably going to be working on (somehow) producing new enemies. It's been rough , does anyone have any suggestions?

Also don't be afraid to tell me what kinds of shit you want to see in Decay. I'm all open for suggestions After all the number one rule of any development is give the people what they want

In relation to Hudsons screenshots... the one at the bottom posted on 28/10/04

Won't you get in trouble for using a zombie from another game, the zombies seen in that screenshot are originally from Quake 1?

Alright guys, im at that stage in development where its the easiest to put in the cool shit, so I decided i'm gonna rip off George's "Interactivity" and "Scripted Events" thread ideas and make one of my own with a twist:

If you could have anything in Decay, what would it be and why? (and if at all possible try to be fairly reasonable )

ok, let me kick this off.

i`d like workable ladders, if possible akimbo weapons ( on some weapons ), better A.I .. wel.. i know thier zombies, but still...

i`d love a flame thrower, to burn those zombies to a crisp, and i`d love to see them run around like in blood or kingpin

how about having some food or stuff laying around you can eat and gain health.

how about having misc pedestrians running about wich the zombies ( or you ) could kill

or misc animals.

it would be a lot nicer if you could make the pipebomb a handgrenade, thus eliminating the "joystick" detonator.

how about having zombies throw handgrenades?

or flamethrower zombies?

if you get hurt, you could somehow turn into a zombie yourself, or loose health at a steady rate. forcing you to find an antidote. this would bring another nice feature to the game.

Already done. The A.I. has been completely rewritten from scratch by MBlackwell

The first part of your request is complete (there is a working flamethrower) and the second should be put in soon.

While very cool, this would take too much time and I want to release this as soon as possible. On the upside though, when i'm finally done with this, im uploading all the materials I have with it. So someone could feel free to make a mission pack if they wanted, or change something in the game they didnt like.. they just have to give me and everyone else who worked on it credit

Mod's looking pretty awesome. Can't wait to play it!

Anyway, in response to ideas for Decay -


- It might be cool to have some zombies leave a few decapitated body parts after dying ala the heads in Blood.

Maybe even have one Evil Dead 1-esque zombie, in that it needs to be completely torn apart with the chainsaw/axe/etc. to be "killed", but I'm not sure how easy or even possible that would be.

- Various seemingly inanimate corpses lying through the streets that are burned beyond recognition, gutted or that appear to be victims of zombie feasting.

This is a Duke 3D mod... as such, I highly doubt there will be sitting. Maybe in DNF, but not in a Duke mod.
