Duke-Vision is probably the result of mixing night-vision with steroids
(if they added it again)

In duke3d night vision was also heat-sensitive (In fact, it even reduced brightness minimalistic and served as heat sensor, to enhance enemies in the darkness, so I always wondered why they called it NIGHT-vision. Its actually a green tinted heat-sensor.
With the additional ability to reveal secret messages/alien-graffiti)
