That would be really sweet. A "greatest hits" collection, so to speak.

To be honest ive never played death rally :|, and im still waiting to see what happens with the SW music, I went on EBAY to see how much it would be to get a CD, but buying a 2nd hand cd to me doesnt seem the same as buying it directly from the publisher or new at a store. :|.

Does Duke Nukem Manhattan Project use dosbox, also is it running from your hard drive. With all the music intact. The reason I ask this is because I would like to play it without needing a CD.

It's great what your doing, you should advertise this new store around the web. You'll get loads of customers.

I already knew that. It's great though the game, I would like to buy it from the 3D Realms store.

Game pads at the ready. The game I think supports joysticks and game controllers and force feedback.

While I can't answer for 3DR anymore, as I don't work there, I'd have to say that won't be happening.

The one I built is the same game that Gog has - it's the DOS Atomic Edition, it's not like it's a newer game.

I didn't set up the store, I don't know the answer to that. But I never understood that concept. You download it, you back it up to CD yourself, you're done. I truly have NEVER understood the point in throwing away money like that.

Joe, I'm not going to ask about the surprises you have for Ultimate ROTT, because they are supposed to be a surprise. But you said you had a ton of user-made levels as well.

Have you sorted these user levels based on quality, or offered your own thoughts on them? Are there any particularly extraordinary and/or famous user levels that you would be willing to disclose?

I'm not sure about the new version of DOSBox, but the old normal versions don't display the red/green border of Crystal Caves. That might be a problem as you need to see the border to know whether you grabbed all the crystals yet.

i was hopeing that the shareware versions would also get that treatment. i am actually building windows installer files that bundle the shareware episodes with dosbox 0.73. i don't know if that would violate any of the legal stuff.

It's shareware. You can do whatever you want with them. Sell them even (well, except for DOSBox, obviously). That sounds interesting. I'd download it.

Guys.. The name Ultimate ROTT is just a stupid nickname that I gave the new build. I tossed in a couple of extra things that were "new", but for the most part it's the same registered download from the old store with the "ROTT Goodies Pack" already included.

It's not like there's loads of new shit here - I don't want expectations to be unrealistic here.

The bolded bit is actually incorrect, DOSBox is under the GPL, a license that is specifically designed to allow people to sell the software released under it, provided the stated conditions are met, like either providing the "corresponding source" with the software or having a written offer with it so that anyone receiving the software can get the "corresponding source" if they want to for no extra charge other than the cost of distributing the source. See this essay by the creators of the license.

you can sell shareware too but now that just seems just wrong. heck i see tons of verndors at computer fairs selling things you can get free online including professionally pressed cd's of linux missing the brand name to avoid legal issues with the distro. but selling dosbox alone seems just wrong unless a game or other non free program is bundled.

As I've said elsewhere, there's nothing ethically and legally wrong with selling shareware, but what you are selling is the SERVICE to bring the game to you. Not the game itself. It's pretty stupid IMO for people to pay for shareware these days.

i actually felt giped once at an computer fair my father bought me spear of destany while i was with him i got it home and found out it was the demo. the disk was not marked other wise. in fact the bulk of the vendors then did not put on the floppy that it was the shareware or demo basically before the web there were tons of people who had a business model of selling every zip file they downloaded from the bbs. now the fairs degraded to large groups of junk sellers. things changed alot since i was in first grade.

Well, I can say that I am COMPLETELY STOKED on the new store.. I really hope there are some shirts/hats/etc available, It's pretty much IMPOSSIBLE to find any duke gear anymore... As far as the remastered games being released, I am happy to say that I will be purchasing EVERY single one, I'm so excited! But one huge downside for me, I was really hoping when the time came for these games to be remastered, that Duke/SW/ROTT/etc would have newly implemented multiplayer options (i.e. like DUKE on XBL via servers, so sick).. I mean, don't get me wrong, there are a few various online launchers for duke out there (haven't seen any for SW or ROTT), but there are too many people that don't know how to use them/configure them, so it's kind of a hassle. If new multiplayer implementation took place in the remastered versions, I really think there would be A LOT more people playing online, as seen with Duke on XBL, etc...
