Maybe the Atomic Health should act like the star (invincibility and ability to ram others) and the armor can just be a protectant against one hit?

Yeah, also I have an idea for the Octabrain:

He should drive some sort of classic ufo type thing, like this

Also if you want to implement special abilities for certain players, he could "fly" above people, but his "weakness" is that he is slow.

I was thinking to just have to top dome removed and have his head popping out. (Since transparency is an issue in Classic Mode)

Here's my take on your idea...



I went with a three wheel design, and added a spoiler to the back. I hadn't done any of the other view points yet, though.

I think the kart should be a little bit bigger in relation to the Octabrain.

You know, it originally was bigger. But, I decided to reduce the size a bit to make it look more Kart-ish. I suppose I could adjust the size of the base a bit.

What kind of graphics will the tiles be? Will they be normal Duke or a cartoony look like Fakir3D?

  • Urban Chase: a race though the streets featuring the exteriors of well known Duke landmarks.
  • Canyon Chaos: similar in vein to The Abyss, contains tunnels and steep cliffs.
  • Totally Toxic: a race through toxic sewers.
  • Space Race: a race though a UAF spaceship
  • Mothership Mayhem: a race though an Alien ship
  • Water Parkway: wet environment
  • Lavaland: Lava themed
  • The Rack Track: Babeland's most popular racetrack
Expansion pack Ideas:
  • DC Drive: A race though Washington DC using Duke it out in DC graphics

That looks awesome! How do you make them? Use duke pics as a reference and paint over them in photoshop? If it's an easy enough technique to get the hang of I'd like to try my hand at a few sprites as well

Well, I do use the originals as references, but I do not trace over top of them. I draw each frame by hand while zoomed in, and keep the original sprite right beside it as a reference. I also use the layers to flip between the different frames that I drew, in order to keep them looking consistent (or about as consistent as I can get them).

So that you don't feel your work is in vain, there are a couple more screen shots on my page now showing off your pigcop and your octabrain.

Progress has hit a few snags, but I have ideas as to how to work them out, if they don't work I'll be asking questions .

other then all that, I just dont seem to have much to say

The Octabrain being one of my favorite enemies, makes this even more awesome

I had an Idea for the Battlelord..!
sort of like Bowser from MarioKart 64, just a bit bigger... The character that is... the kart should remain standard size...makes his appearance a little more exaggerated, as the big guy he is...

The kart being a sort of rover, with big spikey wheels... and two/four tubes on the back where alot of smoke comes out...

You should be able to play this as a DNF minigame! Seriously. That would kick so much ass! I hope you finish it so I can PM and e-mail George Broussard about it. [Edit: In the Octabrain frame 6, I think that perhaps the metal in the top center of the back of his head should be darker (between the brightness of frame 5 and frame 7).]
