Re: Swp updated.
When I moved my site I lost quite a lot of stuff, so maybe some of the minitc's were part of that.
Phayzon, I can put the wb maps back, its just that I feel currently people wont know what to do with them as if and when ever wb will thrive again is anyone's guess

Re: Swp updated.
I can supply lists of what we had before and the MiniTC's are all backed up to disc somewhere All can be sent (or uploaded for you to leech) if required. When you said you seperated them, what did you mean ? As far as i can remember, all the MiniTC's were made because of their unique textures or sounds. Did you manage to unpack some and just make them into normal maps ? Did you combine them with the map packs ??
Regards the WB maps, i feel the whole set should be available, wether people play wangbang or not. Some include a few enemies but most are completely empty. People can run around them in single player mode though and personally i enjoyed looking round some of those maps.

Re: Swp updated.
Ok everything is back as before - just refresh.
Basically what happened is my previous site I only had 8 gig per month and it was always going over that and I was having to pay in so I disabled anything I felt was unnecessary to download as many sites link directly to my files which is unfair to the providers. Anyways my new site I have 30 gigs so it should be ok although I notice many IP's often download the same thing over and over which is strange behaviour.

Re: Swp updated.
Proasm,
Swp 3.9.5 crashes as soon as (I believe) the demo starts to play. I get the 3d Realms screen, then I click my mouse and am back at the desktop. Dosbox runs the game fine, so I know my install is okay. I used swpsetup to create the cfg file so that should be okay as well. I ran it (a few times) using the "Save and Run" from swpsetup and I think double-clicking swp.exe as well and got the same result each way. This is on a Dell laptop running XP Home. What should I look at to diagnose - the log file didn't have anything in it that stuck out as being a fatal error and everything seemed to unload fine. Thanks a lot, mp. |

Re: Swp updated.
Make sure you only have what is needed in the folder.
Create a folder say 'SwpShare' In this folder ONLY have the following: Sw.grp (Shareware version - 26,056,769 bytes) Swp.exe (Latest version 3.95) Swp.grp SwpSetup.exe Sw_Hrp.zip If you dont have the Sw_Hrp.zip then ok also. The first time, execute SwpSetup.exe and click 'Save and run Swp' to create a proper Swp.cfg Following starts either execute Swp.exe or SwpStartup.exe if you have it. Could also be your graphics card as several laptop cards do not have OpenGL.

Re: Swp updated.
Thanks a lot, that works! I put just the swp files and the group (full, not shareware) in their own directory and started up a game fine.
Made my day, because now it will be much easier to play the add ons using the versions from your site and the bat files you created for them. Thanks again, mp. |

Re: Swp updated.
Update to Swp Version 3.9.6
User Addon Hrp If you have a Hrp for your TC or Addon, just name it as the same name as the Grp file and add _hrp.zip, then put it in the same folder and Swp will load it. For example MyTC_hrp.zip when using say 'Swp.exe -gC:\Sw\Games\MyTC.grp' New Cheat Codes SWMEDIC - Adds 25% Health SWKEYS - Gives ALL 8 keys SWKEY# - Gives or Removes key # Where # = Keycards: - 1 = Red / 2 = Blue / 3 = Green / 4 = Yellow Skelkeys: - 5 = Gold / 6 = Silver / 7 = Bronze / 8 = Red SWGUN# - Gives weapon 2 to 0 or adds some ammo amount. http://www.proasm.com/files/sw/Swp39_6.zip

Re: Swp updated.
The normal sw_hrp.zip will be loaded without any command at all provided its in the root folder.
Regarding the User Addon Hrp, there are currently no addons that have an hrp but is for future use as it is now a requirement in Duke hence Duke3dw now has this feature and while the code was fresh in my mind I added it to Swp. Basically lets say someone makes an Hrp for LoNukem and wants it loaded, now if say LoNukem.grp is in the 'Games' folder and you now call that hrp LoNukem_hrp.zip and put it in the same folder, Swp will load it

Its a nice new addition, and if anyone actually cracks on with the HRP, eventutally the addons may see art updates too...
I still have a shedload of fixed map zips to test. Coming Soon (tm).

Re: Swp updated.
Another update to Swp Version 3.9.7
This is a hack update that I've been messing with for a long time. I tried to get it done for 3.9.6 but could not get it to work properly. Anyway it looks as if I now got it going ok. Basically I have added a 'hack patch' which "corrects" the Ninja dying when killed with a sword so it no longer reverts back to an 8 bit texture. This patch I will remove when one day these sword death textures are updated. http://www.proasm.com/files/sw/Swp39_7.zip Some comments on the function of this temporary patch would be welcome

Re: Swp updated.
I think theres a little side effect in that when they aren't killed with the sword they die a little strangely sometimes, but i prefer that over them going back to old 2d textures. So a good hack i think...

Re: Swp updated.
It works ProAsm! Yeah, these 8-bit death frames are gone now, just that the death animation isn`t that long and enjoyable anymore ;-) It was going to be great if the model could keep with the frames from the original death animation.

Thanks guys.
I did notice some code about the animation speed during dying, I'll see if I can tweak that somewhat to improve on it to make the dying sequence more "enjoyable"

Re: Swp updated.
Ok another small update to 3.9.8
I found when slicing a Ninja, the dead Ninja was solid like he was still standing. This has now been rectified and also the Ninja will die and fall at the angle he was sliced/killed at. The sliced death animation has also been improved to look a bit more drastic http://www.proasm.com/files/sw/Swp39_8.zip

Whatever you can do in JFSW you can do with Swp + much more, although WB is something I have not concentrated much on as yet.
Currently only 2 can play as far as I've heard.

Re: Swp updated.
Ok, I gotta be doing something wrong, but dunno what. Went to ProAsm's site, got ver 3..9.8, put NOTHING in my SW dir except the 3.8.9 files and my SW.GRP file from my CD. BSOD. Machine reboots of it's own accord. Been running JonoF's for quite some time, no prob there, even with HRP. Tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Re: Swp updated.
These files are required in the folder:
Sw.grp (from the Sw CD) Swp.exe Swp.grp SwpSetup.exe Sw_Hrp.zip The first time execute SwpSetup.exe, go into the menu's, save and exit. This will create the very necessary Swp.cfg to get the game going. Execute Swp.exe Downloading the SwpStartup.exe as supergoofy suggests is also a good idea as it replaces the SwpSetup.exe and is much more usefull.

Re: Swp updated.
Yeah, I love the way this plays far more than JonoF's port, imo. Almost the same controls as a Counter-Strike or Half-Life scheme, pretty much. Love it!
EDIT: In case you didn't notice, I'm just as big of a Valve fan as a 3DR fan...

I don't think it is required, but better to have the new one than the old one. Try it after removing the HRP !

Re: Swp updated.
ProASM, could you add in more detailed in-game configuration menus, like adjusting the CD drive, the sound settings, the video settings (anisotropy, filtering, etc.), and so on? I don't like the way when you select 32-bit it automatically sets the anisotropy as high as it can go and the filtering to something else.
Some of the default SWP.grp texture definitions appear to be broken, like the small, "off" yin/yang symbol. |

Re: Swp updated.
ProASM, now that I'm thinking about it, the original Shadow Warrior did feature Capture the Flag, right? I'm wondering if that mode's still in use with your port at all. I'm looking to mod the CTF code to do more hostage rescue maps.
Where did I find this again?

Hendricks266, majority of the menu's settings is as JonoF's code which I use as is, although I can look into this and see what I can do although I dont remember seeing it anywhere.

Re: Swp updated.
For the menu options, when something like "Hrp Ziploader" (which should be "HRP Zip Loader") is off, it displays the original texture, but when it is on, it is highres.

Except maybe for the grammar I still dont understand.
It works exactly as you say and the icon dims/brightens although the change obviously only takes place on the next start up. Maybe I take it you want the change to happen instantly

Re: Swp updated.
I understand what he's saying because Ive noticed too. When an option is "on" it displays the highres Yin-Yang symbol, but when an option is "off" it displays the original low-res textture that has been around since SW's release, instead of the high-res one.

Re: Swp updated.
Ahh ok, well I dont have that problem, let me explain.
If you are having this problem then you don't have the latest Hrp. Both the "on" and "off" icons are in the Hrp in the Screen/Menu folder - 2816.png and 2817.png The one inside the Swp.grp is ONLY the dark "off" 2816 which is the same one as in the Hrp but with its Gamma reduced by 50% simply because its hard to see the difference on a Crt monitor between the 2 in the Hrp. Here is a Swp.grp with the 2816 icon removed if you want to see what I mean. http://www.proasm.com/files/other/Swpgrp.zip Maybe also for some reason the one in the Swp.grp does not display for you.

Re: Swp updated.
ProASM, I really dislike the way you hacked the ninja. Please add a separate options submenu to set each one of your hacks off and on (like ZDoom's compatibility menu).
This should include:
Also, as I said earlier, SWP's menus should mimic EDuke32's. More on some things: In the GRP, there are alternate tiles for darts to replace shurikens that the U.K. exe used. Most instances of pictures and messages about the shuriken have a dart counterpart. Exceptions include Lo Wang's speech (I think) and the cursor. AFAIK, there is an unused replacement for the swiveling yin-yang symbol that are shurikens, used in the "The Last Warrior" TC. Another thing is the GRP selection dialog in EDuke32. Here's all the GRP versions I can think of:
I do appreciate the effort you are putting into SWP to make it work right and work better.

Re: Swp updated.
Swp Version 4.0.2
Ok here we have several changes as follows: 1. Increased max screenwidth from 1600 to 3072. 2. Autosize of cursor icon in menus. 3. Added Mouse Scale X and Y in Mouse settings. 4. Added a 'More..' option to a seperate Submenu with the following: Weapon Switch Hrp Zip Loader Swp Statusbar Darts Option Shuriken Cursor Ninja Slice Hack Seppuku Car Hack 5. Added 'Help/Hint' line for this menu. 6. Fixed Swp Startusbar on/off 7. Added weapon icon selections to small hud (icons in Swp.grp) 8. Added new set small Red Fonts to Swp.grp NB: These red fonts are required to improve the Red selected option in the Key and Mouse Input Menu's and will be added to the Hrp in future releases. 9. Changed how the new key cheats work. Before you typed a key number which is too hard to remember, so now you just type in the key, eg: swyellowcard or swgoldkey etc or just swkeys for all keys. http://www.proasm.com/files/sw/Swp402.zip Source code for v4.0.0 available on my site.
